Great experience for someone who is looking for an easy walk. The location is beautiful, clean and well maintained. Fairly busy when we were there. We got one of the last parking spots. When we actually got on the path we encountered many folks out for a social stroll but at a strong pace. A number of dogs accompanying the walkers but they were well behaved, on leash and being cleaned up after. We did encounter one woman with two large dogs that she let go swimming in the lake. The geese were not happy to have their space invaded. There are lots of trails so you can easily expand your walk. All of them were very easy. Be aware that you may share the path with horses but the paths are wide enough that there was no issue for us. There are bathrooms at the parking lot which were clean and accessible. The paths, themselves, were packed gravel that would be usable by an...

Peace is what you'll find here unless you end up late in th er afternoon when all the track team busses arrive. Then you can get run over by kids whose parents never taught them that they should politely "share the highway." The circular cinder trail around the lake is an easy walk at just under one mile. Flat, relatively soft to the arches fine cinder "track" added to the beauty of the lake is a must see if you're looking for peaceful easy on the body, exercise. If you jam is trails, there are steep winding gravel trails that runners and horse...

This is a versatile and beautiful outdoor destination. It’s easy to park and enjoy the lake and/or trails for a few minutes or an extended amount of time. There are many walking trails and extended portions with shade. The trails are wide and well-maintained. The lake loop is flat and easy to walk. Other trails have more elevation and challenge. Walking, running, fishing, picnicking, dog walking, horseback riding, plein air painting are activities that we have observed. We’ve seen deer, geese and ducks each time we visit. ...

Had a very nice brisk walk around the lake in the late afternoon - just the right length for a brief visit with a wide, scenic flat pathway and several benches along the way. This area has a naturesque feel to it with a variety of surrounding terrain to add interest. There is another trail nearby that allows for horses as well. The parking was over full but still had some space off to the side of the loop there. Anyway, I look forward to returning some day to further explore the longer trails that branch off of the main lakeside path.

FIVE STARS for Bass Lake in Blowing Rock, North Carolina! This 22-acre man-made gem sits just outside town on Route 221, surrounded by rolling hills and ever-changing mountain skies. Visitors can stroll, jog, fish, or simply take in the stunning scenery reflected in the lake’s mirror-like surface. The easy lakeside loop is perfect for a relaxed walk, while the trails leading up to the historic Moses Cone Manor offer a more moderate-to-challenging climb — your choice! Restrooms are conveniently located on-site.

Easy short level trail around small lake at the base of Moses Cone Memorial Park off of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Plenty of free parking most of the year. Can be congested at peak times. Restrooms are usually clean, but not today. Horses are allowed on most trails in the park, but not this one. Dogs on leash allowed. Fishing with license allowed, but no boats or swimming. The Moses Cone manor house can be viewed across the lake & up the hill. Access to over 25 miles of carriage trails. No bikes.
