Had a very nice brisk walk around the lake in the late afternoon - just the right length for a brief visit with a wide, scenic flat pathway and several benches along the way. This area has a naturesque feel to it with a variety of surrounding terrain to add interest. There is another trail nearby that allows for horses as well. The parking was over full but still had some space off to the side of the loop there. Anyway, I look forward to returning some day to further explore the longer trails that branch off of the main lakeside path.

Easy short level trail around small lake at the base of Moses Cone Memorial Park off of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Plenty of free parking most of the year. Can be congested at peak times. Restrooms are usually clean, but not today. Horses are allowed on most trails in the park, but not this one. Dogs on leash allowed. Fishing with license allowed, but no boats or swimming. The Moses Cone manor house can be viewed across the lake & up the hill. Access to over 25 miles of carriage trails. No bikes.

Really nice small park. Trail is about .9 mile around Bass Lake which has an island in the middle. We did the park trail counterclockwise, first passing a large planting of hydrangeas which were in full bloom and we saw lots of water fowl swimming along the blooming water lilies. Along the back side is the entrance to the Maze Trail then it loops back around to the parking lot. There were lots of kids and people. This is more of a park walking then a hiking trail.

This is such a peaceful, quiet retreat from the crowds and business of Main Street. Driving less than 5 minutes from downtown Blowing Rock, you'll find yourself immersed in the natural beauty of the High County. There's a fair amount of parking, clean restrooms, and a nice trail that loops around the lake. There are numerous benches along the trail for you to sit, relax, and watch the deer or listen to a babbling brook. It's also a popular spot for dog walking.

This is a good path for running laps. It's not a very long path but the lake is pretty. The trail is flat all around except for a bridge. The trail is fairly heavily trafficked so parking can be difficult. There are benches to sit on when you're tired XD There are also restrooms available. This trail connects to a few other more difficult trails. I personally think the trail is far too easy but not bad if you're looking for a workout :,-)

Really beautiful early in the morning when it’s less crowded! Check out the trails/park map by the restrooms to plan a route for walking or running. The main loop around Bass Lake is 0.9 miles, so if you want a longer run, take the cut off to “The Maze” at one end of the lake, which goes up some moderate hills and passes the Apple Barn, then connects back to the Bass Lake loop after 2.6 miles or so.
