This is the top of the Greene Valley garbage pile closed to garbage collection for many years. They renamed it the Greene Valley Scenic Overlook and added a road to drive up to the top with plenty of free parking. It is open May thru Oct on the weekends only. You can see the downtown Chicago skyscrapers on a clear day. I rode my bike up here and it's over 1 mile from the parking lot to the top with an elevation gain of 190 feet. That's quite a ride. It is very windy at the top. Because of the wind, model RC pilots fly gliders off the side of the hill. You need permits...

You can drive up here on the gravel road (beware of potholes) that can kickup some dust so be prepared if you are behind someone to see that dust cloud.
