Deer Island is such a lovely place to walk in nature, enjoy the sea breeze, and look out at the Boston skyline and Harbor islands! Fishing is also allowed. You can promenade along the edge of the island or bike the hills. All trails are covered with asphalt, so they are smooth and even for strollers. The wastewater facility actually looks nice and doesn't give off any offensive smells - I was wary about it since I didn't know what to expect, but it could have been any set of office buildings. There are signs along the path that explain how the facility works, etc. Parking is free and limited, but I didn't have a problem finding a spot. There's also a public bus that goes there: #713 towards Point Shirley. There's a long public beach immediately to the north of the peninsula. I highly recommend visiting Deer Island!

This is one of my favorite spots around the Boston area. Deer Island's harbor walk is about 2.5 miles in length. You can easily get there by car, but a bit of a hike by public transportation if you don't live in Winthrop. One can bike, walk, run, or like me....inline skate. Multiple views of the North Shore, Atlantic Ocean, lighthouses, harbor islands, downtown Boston and the airport are breathtaking. You can leave the flat/paved part of the trail and hike up some of the hills to get an even better view of all the sites. At peak times, parking in the lot can be a challenge, but people do park along the main road just outside of the parking lot. Portable toilets are available at two different points of the...

To all the residents of Revere and surroundings ! Deer Island I personally refer as a walking paradise around the island itself. We long for fresh air ,we hunt for fresh air. Here it is :drink the air infusing ocean breeze just at our back yard. With birds singing coast, fisherman's favourite eco clean and inviting.I want to thank the local leaders for letting us share this beauty..The irony is that the giant plant of the human waste of the modern technology does not interfere with nature's gift .Bus riders can enjoy it till 1.00 a.m.Boarding at "Orient Heights "station and...
