This is a beautiful Urban Wild area. It has two types of paths, dirt paths and gravel paths.
The dirt paths on Quarry Trail and Pine rock Trail, are nice in terms of feeling wild, but are almost entirely lined with poison ivy. In some areas the poison ivy vine tendrils are reaching into the pathway. In other areas, both sides of the narrow pathway have poison ivy. It felt like passing through a poison ivy gauntlet, so, unfortunately, I could not appreciate the natural beauty.
The gravel paths on Meadow Trail feel more like a well kept city park, but still somewhat wild feeling. That part of the Sherrin Woods is also beautiful, and no worries about poison ivy. I highly recommend the...
Read moreThis is a nice, natural retreat almost hidden within the southern reaches of Boston. There is a field of wildflowers, some ponds (now dry), a large rock atop which one may survey the area, and some woodsy hiking trails that change elevation. The area is not extensive, always earshot from either the B&P railroad on one side and residences on the other. But it preserves the natural landscape much better than more "managed" areas (e.g. Millennium park, Arnold Arboretum, etc.).
