Off to Skydive! 🪂 Skydiving in Las Vegas

I thoroughly enjoyed jumping at Skydive Las Vegas! I have three previous jumps under my belt and this fourth jump did not disappoint. The staff were welcoming, the facilities were good, and my tandem jumper Mauro did his best. I found a rock in my hair after landing, but this says more about my curly hair than the landing, which went very well despite the breezy conditions. I jokingly "blame" Mauro for this rock and the rocks in my shoes. Side note: do not wear shoes that you care about keeping scuff- or scratch-free. I chose to wear Nike dunks. Now they have more character and I have a convenient reason to get a new pair. If I had to make one change or recommendation, it would be to use the built-in bathrooms and not the portable potties off to the side of the building. I am unsure as to why the bathrooms were locked and not in use. In the Las Vegas heat, the portable potties can be overwhelmingly smelly. Visitors can overcome the stench with a mask (and essential oils, as I did). I did appreciate the hand washing station. Another recommendation for consideration is making the trash can more accessible, but I believe its positioning was such that it didn't blow away and/or disrupt the runway. That could be catastrophic to a plane. Saving space for this to be true. Overall, I highly recommend Skydive Las Vegas. My experience was excellent and favorably memorable. Out of my four jumps, this jump was second most enjoyable. I don't know that anything will best my very first jump, however it had more to do with the US Air Force and less to do with Mauro, who was fantastic! I plan to jump again with Skydive Las Vegas, and it's highly probable I may request to jump with him. Hyron is cool too, and he has more stickers on his helmet. Can't go wrong with stickers. Make the most: - wear comfortable clothing and shoes - use the shuttle; rideshare is not the most reliable from here - if you may experience fear of heights or dying, lean into this, learn about yourself, and have fun! - purchase the media package, the pictures and video are worth it in my opinion - leave a tip; can do this via cash in a provided envelope and/or venmo - be kind to the staff, they are amazing! - jump more than once

I had high hopes for our skydiving experience at Skydiving Las Vegas, especially as it was meant to be a special birthday event for my daughter. Unfortunately, the experience was marred by poor customer service, questionable practices, and a dismissive attitude that left a bad impression.

Upon check-in, I was informed I would be charged an extra $ due to being over the weight limit. The woman at the front desk stated that I weighed 206 lbs. However, I later re-weighed myself at our hotel and found I was well under 200 lbs. When I raised this discrepancy with her at the time, I was bluntly told, “Pay or don’t jump.” Since I had already paid and my daughter was excited, I decided to take the matter up via email later. Sadly, the response I received merely acknowledged I might have been overcharged—and instead of a refund, they offered photos as compensation. That’s not acceptable. - the over charge was $100!!!!!!!!!!

What made things worse was that my daughter was also told she was over the weight limit. Like many young women, she is very conscious of her weight, and this left her feeling embarrassed. We both checked ourselves again at the hotel, and both of us were significantly below the weights they claimed.

Additionally, the instructor was difficult to understand—his instructions were unclear, and I do not speak Spanish. As a result, I landed awkwardly on my backside (to my daughter’s amusement, at least). Thankfully, I wasn't injured, but clearer communication could have made all the difference. My daughters instructor (Originally from Italy was pure class and very clear - I couldn't have wished for a better person to take care of my daughter!)

There are many skydiving companies out there, and based on our experience, I would strongly recommend exploring other options before choosing Skydiving Las Vegas. It’s a shame, really, because this was meant to be a joyful, memorable experience for my daughter’s birthday—and instead, it left us disappointed and feeling taken...
