I am embarrassed to admit that having lived in Boulder for fifty years, I had no idea that this compact system of trails and appealing views existed, essentially right under my nose near the entrance to Boulder Canyon. I had long been aware of this place, Settlers' Park (now renamed per the current Native American land acknowledgement fad), but had always assumed it was nothing more than a couple of picnic benches in the trees. In addition to a variety of trails of differing difficulty, there are sections where dogs with Voice and Sight tags can be off leash. And judging by the number of families we saw, kids can be off leash as well. It was a very nice "discovery."

This place has some gorgeous hiking, right on the outskirts of Boulder! It's also clear that it's a local hangout spot. You're allowed to scramble all over the rocks, which is a cool experience. Also a great place to come and watch the sunset over Boulder. The trails can be a little confusing, although it's easy enough to find your way back to where you want to be. I wish I had more time to explore this little gem!

Closest Hiking to town. This park offers quick trails with great views. It is a little crowded, but worth it for the views. It took us about 15 minutes to get to the top. There are many boulders one can climb. The bottom is not interesting but the top is beautiful. This is also an excellent place to take photos, including panoramic photos of the town. The only problem is that there is not too much parking.

I parked in the parking lot and was there after dark. I’m in a van and often need to rearrange and clean up a bit before heading out. I’ve been hiking in the area all day and it was about 10 PM when I was finishing up, going through my van and cleaning it out when a Boulder police officer drove by and used it spotlight to blind me, they never said anything they just got closer and closer blinding me. The sign says they close at 11 PM so I’m not really sure what that was about, but I just left. I’ve been there later than that just to chill and unwind before going up the mountain where I won’t have service on my phone and seeing homeless people galore hanging out so I’m not really sure if the police presence is just intermittent or if I just got unlucky, but that’s...

Great park and nice hike but clear that most people here do not obey the trails as in some places there is so much erosion from people walking off trail that you can’t tell which the real trail is. I even saw two dopey headed idiots climbing over the peak of anemone trail where there are clear blockages marked with wood planks to prevent people from walking there. They climbed right over the barrier after I watched them hike down on the grass! I mean talk about disrespect to the park, nature, the rangers and other hikers! Too bad they didn’t fall and hurt themselves in...
