My agency booked through the regional administrator about a month ago for a corporate event. The manager, Tamika, and some of her staff were very rude and disrespectful the 2 days we were there. We paid to reserve the large conference room and Tamika was refusing to place us in the room because they wanted to do storytime in there. We had to reach out to the regional administrator and she informed her that she indeed needed to acknowledge our reservation. We paid over $700 to book the room and we were given attitude because they had to move FREE storytime to another room. It took an hour to get that straightened out and pushed our event way behind schedule. Tamika kept coming upstairs to complain about something and her tone was extremely rude. We had a staff member that needed a private place to pump. There is no lactation room and no dedicated space in the bathrooms (only toilets. There's no where to sit or plug in her pump) so she sat in an empty conference room at the end of the hall. I let Tamika know she was in there. Her response was "It's not ok for her to be in there but I told her she can just go ahead and finish". I just said ok and walked away. My employee ended up not even coming the second day to avoid this issue. The second day the attitude continues. She brought up rules in an online contract and we had to remind her that we didn't book online, we didn't sign an online contract and we booked through the regional person and was not given any of the "rules" she is referring to. She stated we couldn't have catered food (one of her staff members helped bring the food in) and a heating source for food (chafing cans). At that point the food had been there about an hour. We told her we were approved for catering and that we were even originally approved to have a food truck but decided to go with the caterer instead. We had already eaten (& was going to invite her and her staff to get some food but decided not to after her attitude) so we went ahead and put the chafing cans out so there wouldn't be any issues. Then she said the music was was too loud. It had been on for at least an hour before she complained. She stated "I can hear this downstairs. This IS a library. You need to turn it down". We had been downstairs several times and could not hear it, plus there were people talking loudly downstairs, watching their computers with no headphones and kids running around playing, but to avoid her keep coming to complain, we turned it down. We (myself and my director whom was over the event) attempted to speak with Tamika regarding whatever issues she (and some of the other staff) clearly had with us, however her responses were the last straw for us. Regarding issues with the staff that didn't want to get the trash that was left the day before she stated "ok, he usually doesn't work here". We stated we feel disrespected and like they have an issue with us just because of the lack of communication between her , her staff and the regional person. Her response was "ok. thanks for voicing your concerns". Just very dismissive. No accountability, no apology. Not even a clarifying "oh no, we're not trying to come across as rude" or "no we don't have an attitude with you all". After that conversation, we felt like whatever we did she was going to have an issue with so we decided to pack up and leave even though we paid to be in the room until 5. Everything we had/did was discussed with and approved weeks ago by the regional person we booked with. This is only a few of the instances that occured. We will be writing a formal complaint that details our...

Read moreThis is a really nice library, as far as the physical aesthetics. But I am so tired of all the noise in the children's section. I can barely think with all the commotion. If you closed your eyes, you'd think you were in a gym. I couldn't believe that middle school kids were playing hide-and-seek. I know toddlers are going to make some noise, but it's really sad to see that they are taught by their parents that they are entitled to scream and run when others are trying to read or study. Once I went when there was a social gathering upstairs. REALLY? Now I have to listen to party music and loud laughter in the library? This is too much. I see that public libraries are slowly being transformed into community centers, but it should still be respected as a place where people gather for solitude as they read through their next great book or study for the upcoming exam. Everything doesn't...
