Hallelujah, finally a Camer restaurant that serves good food. After enjoying amazing Cameroonian food in Houston last weekend , I was determined to find one in DC. The plan was to order every weekend from a different restaurant until we found one we liked.
Hit the jackpot first time around. Food was amazing. Soya tasted like soya ( meaty and deliciously fatty) . To the reviewer who said it was too oily and fatty: that’s what makes it so delicious!! To the owner and cook : thank you for taking me back home for the evening. It’s amazing that you care enough to respond to reviewers. Please, don’t be tempted to send old microwaved food to people who order online . It’s a terrible practice. Again… amazing!!! Massa oh, No more microwaved soya with achu spices from kitchen near you. I’m dancing with joy as I lick my fingers.
EDIT: Took one star off. Ordered delivery again the next day and got microwaved soya. SMH… we-eh African restaurants. Also, the fat amount was double this time around. Can’t do this every weekend if I want to keep my cholesterol levels in check. EDIT: Ordered for the third weekend in a row. Everything was microwaved. Hard chewy soya. Old fish, old Garri. We-eh Africans. Oh well. I’m going to stop ordering from here now because I may end up giving a one star if the trend continues. Unto the next restaurant. EDIT: Finally got to visit it in person . The eru was on point. Soya was perfect. Minimal pepper which was great for my kids. Ndole...
Read moreI’ve been passing this place for months now, I was glad I finally tried Blessed Hands today! Being west African I knew what to expect from the dishes they offer, and I must say they did not disappoint. The Potato leaves were delicious as was the other items I ordered for myself and family. Aside from the food, I was pleased with the service as well. Granted the young man didn’t seem the most familiar with what was available at the time of my order.. he was sure to check with the chef instead of giving me any old response. He was polite and even offered to help me take my order to the car because it was a large bag. There was a slight miscommunication with my order that I noticed once I got to my car. Having two small children in the car asleep , I didn’t want to make another dash inside. Their response to accommodate the miscommunication with a replacement side was already a plus, but to have the chef/ owner (I assume) bring it out To me at the car because of my situation with the small children was very admirable. He didn’t have to and “curbside pickup” is not a feature they currently offer, so it was Done out of kindness and consideration . I appreciate this establishment , and I’m glad the food was so good because I will certainly...
Read moreStopped by this black owned business this past Saturday and wanted to try their macaroni and cheese but they had just sold out so I ordered white rice (which they consider a side whereas other restaurants just give it to you for free), collard greens which were very well seasoned and delicious...along with their version of chopped steak called Soya which I never heard of before but I wanted to try something new...although it had a nice spicy flavor, unfortunately, most of the Soya was tough and chewy...there were even pieces of pure fat that were totally inedible. I don't know if they need to tenderize the meat better or get a better cut of meat altogether but if thats how Soya is supposed to be, then I feel let down. To recap, I paid $25 for rice and collard greens which were very good and the portions were big enough for dinner the next day but I had to make some fried chicken because the Soya was tooooo tough causing my mouth to get tired from all the extra chewing!! I'll still go back and try other dishes...just...
