A year ago my Mother and I were coming from Georgia and I hit a piece of tire on the interstate so we pulled into the rest stop to check the car. My Mother had to go to the restroom while I checked the car. She wasn't to balanced on her feet but didn't take her cane. She got to the doors of the building and and fell down and bumping her head!! The Guy who works there went to her aid and stayed with her the whole time while we waited on the ambulance to arrive. He was a nice caring man, and I'd like to tell him again Thank you for all you did for my Mom!!!! A few months later my Mom passed away!!! Thank you Alabama rest stop for hiring such a Sweet, Caring Man!!! God...

It is pretty sad that more and more rest areas are not allowing overnight parking. It makes it so difficult when you are pulling a large camper or RV not mention truck drivers who are finding it more and more difficult to find a place to sleep. The truck stops are full and if they are not they are charging the truckers for parking. Trucks are having to park out along the interstates because of this and it is causing more hazardous driving due to tired drivers (commercial and civilian drivers) as well as the distraction of vehicles along the roadways. Please open the rest areas back up for...

This rest area is very dated. The restrooms are in desperate need of renovation; old toilets, sickly hospital-green paint, and a generally unpleasant smell weren't exactly welcoming. The visitor information center is okay- onsite attendants were kind. The exterior looks very "governmental" and more like something you'd see as the exterior of a prison. Standard vending machines on site (when they work). Not a bad place to stop and relieve yourself, but the state of Alabama should consider a renovation into something that paints the state in an attractive light to tourists...

I was pleasantly surprised how nice this welcome center was both inside and out. Outside they have walkways in a very relaxing natural area with surrounding tall trees. In the back of the main building they have rocking chairs over looking hills in the distance. Inside a receptionist will greet you with “Welcome to Alabama” and an array of information in the room about Alabama. They also had an active fireplace to warm you up. Restrooms were clean and nicely kept. Plenty of parking was available when I visited. I enjoyed taking a break here after a long drive.

Such a warm welcome to Alabama from the gentlemen standing out front. Very clean facilities. In the back of the facility they have wooden rocking chairs with a beautiful view. The wave is lines with Wandering Jew plants that were just beautiful. The attendant saw me and my husband admiring them and she offered to snip some vines to take home back to Florida. I hope she sees this and knows how thankful and excited I am to get home and repot. We are long haul truck drivers and the cuts survived the west coast the east coast and now back to Florida..

Lovely setting at the top of a wooded hill. Massive picnic shelters with concrete tables to match. Charcoal grills if you scout around, love the idea of having so much time you could light briquettes, wait for them to be ready then chef up a meal. Then head back to the interstate. Nice stone building, clean restrooms, award winning maintenance with earned plaques on display. Well stocked information room. Nice kick off for our 2021 States We Hate tour. Looking to change our prejudices.
