Brentwood Baptist — Attraction in Brentwood

Until recently, with my move to college, this has been my home church since I was a baby. It is a lovely church where I'm sure you'll find community in. Though I will admit, if you don't like large churches... Don't come here. It's huge. But even with the large church, they are very organized and determined to make sure everyone finds a group of community. Our senior pastor, Mike, has recently retired, so we have a new senior pastor, Jay, who is different from what I am used to but good. The teaching is sound and backed by scripture. There is plenty of childcare and is very safe since I used to work in the preschool department, and your children are well taken care of. I gave my neighbor, a disabled vet, a ride to this church for food assistance. When we arrived the receptionist (an older lady) was cold and unwelcoming. The gentleman thanked her for the assistance, and inquired about the Church. Her attitude was "take your food" and leave!" He was not invited to come to church. With a gentle nudge I told him we should leave. God was most definitely not in this Church or should I say fancy building. The gentleman asked me if all Baptists were snobs? I told him I'd like to think not, but, I assure you, no true follower of Christ would ever make you feel unwelcomed in the Lord's House. I know that no church is perfect and Brentwood Baptist actually lives as the Bible teaches. I prayed fervently for assistance. I was scared and the knot at the end of my rope was quickly unraveling. My phone call was immediately returned. A lady volunteer, Trudy, reached thru the phone and hugged me; held my hand and never made me feel guilty about the poor decisions that I had made.
