Serendipity Cellars — Attraction in Brentwood

My friends and I recently decided to explore a local winery for a wine tasting experience instead of heading to Napa or Livermore. We chose here for its beautiful setting, and initially, everything seemed promising.

Upon arrival, our experience was immediately off putting with the check-in and check-out processes. Despite arriving at opening time when it wasn't busy, the staff couldn't find my reservation and I had to "prove" I had one, even though I had paid in advance, and it wasn't busy. Luckily, I had my confirmation email, but I was still met with resistance regarding the payment.

We had a reservation for four people, but due to an emergency with a friend's pet, only three of us could attend. Despite explaining the situation, they refused to refund the fourth tasting.

The most frustrating part was when we decided to upgrade to the cookie pairing. After finally locating my original reservation, the staff refunded it and made us pay again for FOUR cookie tastings, instead of allowing us to pay for just three. I don't understand why this was necessary, given the circumstances. At this point we were super frustrated and just wanted to get on with it so we took the fourth set of cookies home.

While the winery itself is beautiful, and Andrew provided excellent service, the handling of our reservation made us feel unwelcome. A nice facility in a rural setting just a few minutes from Brentwood or Discovery Bay. Tasting is mostly outside as the interior of the tasting room is quite small. Fine on a sunny day but might be a little cool in the Winter. The visit was a pleasant enough experience but we didn't buy any wine and just paid for the tasting.
