Wonderful trail. I would definitely hike his again. There are definitely some tricky parts with lots of exposed roots as tripping hazards. The length of the trail is pretty long with lots of elevation gain so it's a solid workout. We had lots of people asking us how much further the end was etc. It's a suitable trail for experienced hikers or any adventurous beginners. I would hike with my friends here but not a great hike for anyone less coordinated or less able to handle elevation gain. I wouldn't recommend this trail if you've never hiked before since it's on the moderate side of difficulty. There isn't any rock scaling or anything like that, but it definitely is not an easy hike either. That being said the trail is gorgeous and there is a ton of forest scenery. The only real lookout point is from the very top, but it is very rewarding. The summit is a great place to stop for a snack and enjoy the view. Lots of people on this trail in the afternoon when we went and we had to park pretty far down the road. I was stung by a wasp on this trail as well - not sure if this is common for the trail or a one off, but I was glad I brought my first aid kit on the hike. I didn't provoke the wasp at any point - just hiking along and then out of nowhere was stung. Many people had their dogs on the trail as well if that's something important/concerning to you. Happy hiking!

To preface *** we are not hiking girlies and the this was the only hike we did in the area. Got there early, first ones in the lot. Beware : First ones on the trail gets to clear all the spiderwebs out of the way for others. We obviously learned this the hard way. Trail starts off with a slow but steady incline , beautiful foliage, streams, enchanted magical forest things. A few fallen trees to climb over but nothing too crazy. Throughout the hike our cardio endurance was tested but we were thankful for the switchbacks, keeping the steepness to a minimum. Once you see the “danger cliff” yellow sign, you’re almost at the top. Even though it was cloudy the view was epic, the clouds made it super moody. All the spider web clearing was worth it to be the first ones at the top and have this serene environment all to ourselves. 10/10 might do again but I’m sore.

This trail is not for those used to easy-moderate trails. It was the hardest trail. I’ve done to date. It had lots of switchbacks on the way up to that 1500 elevation gain. The trail itself is beautiful with all the mica making the rocks and dirt sparkle. There was rain in the area so it was very muddy in some spots and slipper in others though most of the trail was dry. The view at the top was spectacular and definitely worth the effort. I got to see different phases of colors due to the coming rain. Hiking poles a must as they are an asset on this trail and navigating the mud. I had to take many breaks in the way up. It took me about 3-1/2 hour ups but only an hour down. I rated moderate as that is what most people say but I lean more towards almost hard especially if older or slightly out of shape.
