To say the weather and water looked beautiful, but there was lots of bugs in the water( I know you canโ€™t control that but dirtier than where I am from.) We did not seen any signs that said no alcohol so completely get it, and we were apologetic that we didnโ€™t see a sign. The officer Kenneth up there is very rude and ticket happy. He really needs to learn to like his job or get a new one. He was very rude to us when he flew up on his ATV and didnโ€™t even say hello and started being extremely rude and condescending to us about โ€œwhose claw is thisโ€ none of us responded because as fellow EMS workers we are not used to being spoken to that way and more shocked at his behavior. OH and when my friends 7 year old daughter recognized how rude he was to us I had to teach her not all Cops are good cops. we did do something wrong ( unknowingly ) but cops should not speak to people that way. No one should! He was also rude to the other two younger kids that came up to ask about their parking tickets which they didnโ€™t realize ( iโ€™m sure cuz they are young) they had to pay. He also told us there are signs posted everywhere in English. Which NO they arenโ€™t. Thereโ€™s two and one was on a side we werenโ€™t on and the other was next to a tree the other side we didnโ€™t go on. Iโ€™m sure he deals with jerks all day but we werenโ€™t one of them. Needless to say he rode multiple times right by two girls who had open liquor in solo cups and smoking weed but that was okay and smiled right at them. We will not return. Weโ€™ll go to another beach where it is more welcoming. Get a new job dude or act like you like the public at least....

Was here during the Canadian wildfires early June 2025. Night one the drama added by the smoke was unparalleled in creating an otherworldly sunset . Smoky for sure, a lot eye burn/sting but a dystopian phenomena(!) beautiful . Night 2 we went back to the same spot. My partner has a bad knee so we're just off of the parking lot on a very accessible bench ! Also there is a sand pad /boardwalk thing for those who (k)need more accessibility! What a treat!! There a port o style bathrooms with an accessible one available close to these same benches . A snack shack and miles of calm welcoming waters . Unfortunately there was one very tainting experience. An extremely overzealous dnr officer aggressively approached my partner and i on the second night and accused us of partaking in cannabis . Now as a nearly 49 year old I am no stranger to all sorts of youthful behavior, however a number of things A. The wind was blowing in the opposite direction B. There was a 2 hundred thousand plus acre wildfire burning with a health advisory in place for the area C. The quad said robust fella was driving was running rich under the extra duress of it's occupant so all I could smell was Canada and fuel rich carburetor emissions. D. and I cannot stress this enough, we had not imbibed of Michigan's legal cannabis at all . #notevenalittle .... So I recommend this place for sunset but the "vibes" may be a bit aggressive depending on who is working . However all in all what a gem on the...

I use to love coming to this beach. It's never overly crowded, it's clean and I love the trails, grasses and shoreline/views. I am a photographer from Indiana and love my beach sessions in the summer. I had a session scheduled last night and arrived at 7:30 pm. You don't have to pay for parking after 8 pm. I was charged $15 for thirty minutes of parking. I would have driven to another beach or waited until 8 pm but I had just driven an hour and we were shooting a sunset session and had scheduled a specific time scheduled to shoot. I have shot at so many beaches along Lake Michigan and I have only ever had to pay for the time that I use - usually by the hour. I even spoke with a women that worked there and an officer on duty who informed me that there was nothing that they could do, its $15 per day no matter what. I think it's ridiculous that they don't give you the option to pay by the hour and also that with thirty minutes left in the day, they couldn't work with me....

I felt a little challenged by local law enforcement asking about the services of my dog and then circling back with us while on the beach to indicate he was looking for us. By law, I should not have to explain my disability, nor her ability to swim me back in, and even pull me up the steep rocky shoreline. The same officer made comments to my wife about taking the dog for a walk without me. A repeat camper warned us about her previous experiences watching him interact with GUESTS, and then we saw him verbally lay into a young latino adolescent boy about allegedly getting ice cream on his four-wheeler loud enough that half the beach was watching. I had a feeling he would have been more respectful if they had fit the local mold a bit better. This unprofessional behavior convinced us to never return to this beech despite having excellent friendly staff in the concessions/ rental area and a lovely beach. There are too many options along this coast to go where you are not wanted.

We just love Weko Beach we have been going every year since our first trip 3 years ago, we now go every yr at least twice, we tent camped when we had a group larger than 5, have also rented the cabins, the extra $5 ngt for the ceiling fan is well worth it so $55-60 ngt is a great deal especially when you are right on the Beach. There are only beds in the cabins, and you need your own bedding. The Beach is always well maintained and security is on top of keeping the beach drug and alcohol free, so that's a plus, especially when you have children. The staff is always very friendly! The staff told us they even pronounced Weko as "Waco, like in Texas, which ironically that's where we are from๐Ÿ˜Š so then of course that made us all Love Weko Beach even more๐Ÿ˜ the only thing I don't like is that I can't take my dog on the beach, although they do have a dog trail but my dog is too old to walk it ๐Ÿ˜”
