We stayed in a cabin for a long weekend in early May. Upon check in, we found there was an error on the internet, that resulted in our room not being what was described. I went back to the check in office and spoke with a manager. She told me that there wasn’t anything she could do, as they were booked full for the weekend…. She could offer us our money back, or we could accept the incorrect arrangement…
I told her I paid extra to make sure we got the arrangements we wanted, she should move us to a cabin that has the features we paid for…
She said she couldn’t, so at that point I asked to speak to someone above the manager. the park director took over my issue and after a few uncomfortable minutes, she agreed to move us….
After this little issue was resolved, we had a wonderful stay!!
Our cabin was small, which we expected, but bigger than our tent we are accustomed to. It kept us warm and completely dry during the few rain showers we had. We sat in the cabin, listening to the rain hit our roof, feeling sorry for all the soggy, wet, tent camping folks. And we decided that our tent camping days are most likely over… time to start looking at campers….
Behind our cabin is a beautiful wooded area, we found a “lean-to” shelter someone built Naked & Afraid style, While we gathered small sticks and logs to burn…
From this point on, these firewood gathering missions would now be known as a “Naked & Afraid”… As in, “Hey, we’re low on firewood, wanna go buy some, or do a Naked & Afraid?”
The police patrolled the campgrounds on a regular basis, but I never saw a need for them. Our little area of the campground was full, but it stayed relatively quiet. Great place to bring the whole family!!!
Oh, did I forget to mention the beach??? Cmon, Florida may have palm trees, but you can’t beat the sand and water of Weko Beach and Lake Michigan. Absolutely Beautiful…Stunning…. Gorgeous…
The best of both worlds… Forest, Woods, Trails, Streams… And just a few feet from the White Sand Beach and Crystal Clear Waters of...
Read moreWe have a 20 foot camper and wanted to camp here. When booking our site we asked how big they were and if our camper would fit. We were told absolutely, there’s plenty of room for your camper. We booked our trip for a week and a half over Labor Day weekend. We arrived and tired to back our camper in our spacious spot. Well our slide out extended over our neighbors site and our awning when extended out went over our other neighbors site. So it wasn’t nearly enough room for our camper... the fire pit would’ve been right under our awning!!! So we asked for a bigger spot or to purchase one of the sites next to us but of course that wasn’t possible because they were booked. So we asked to cancel because with two dogs and a camper that didn’t fit on the site, we literally couldn’t stay. We only got HALF of our money back and we’re told ‘sorry’ and to check other campgrounds for availability.. it’s Labor Day weekend... no one has availability. So we were stranded 4 hours away from home. Thanks! The least you could’ve done is gave us a full refund after you told us the site was large enough. We planned on this vacation for months and we’re left hanging with only half our money back. So now we sit at home extremely bummed with only...
Read moreMy husband and I were there for one night. It was great for what we needed. We are minivan campers. Bathrooms were clean. Showers were interesting. Both men and women use the same big room. Odd but I didn't feel unsafe. Every shower stall is a small room with a heavy steel full door that locked from the inside. Could use a bench or extra hooks for your clothes. Campsites were close together but that's nature of the land. Sites are nestled between sand dunes which doesn't leave much space. It was a 1/4 mile path via stairs / boardwalk over the dune. The beach was beautiful. Very clean. We were there to view the Aurora. Before memorial day. So the club house was not open. But Porta potties were available and not in bad shape for Porta potties 🤷 Didn't see any play areas for kids. We don't have any but others kiddos seemed very content building sand castles and splashing in the waves next to the shore. But there is a state park next door and probably some playgrounds in town. In the future, i would consider staying for a day or two just for some beach time. The campground was very quiet. I couldn't even hear the waves. I'm guessing the dunes block sound pretty well. Thanks for a...
