National Day Fireworks Viewing Guide (Part 1) for Next Week

It's ok for most people, but not for the physically-challenged or elderly!! We went to a festival here, and have tried to picnic here, but grunting and swearing while shoving a wheelchair through the dirt and weeds kinda takes the joy out of it for both the wheelchair-bound and the "shover." I'm really surprised with the amount of money and planning they have put into that park and fairgrounds in general that they have put so little thought, concern or money into also serving the needs of the physically-challenged and elderly. A MAJOR oversite- or lack of interest- in serving all members of the community. We have largely quit going to the park or fairgrounds now that we know we are closer the the bottom of their list of concerns.

15 minutes or 150 minutes - worth it for either. On our 5-day / 5-park Thornton parks & rec expedition, this glorious spot was the fav. Wish we had more time bc it is HUGE! Wander and find the river, circumnavigate the various lakes and see the adjoining fairgrounds nearby. You can hear road noise and see planes overhead, so it’s not like you’re outside the city, but it’s a wonderful space with a natural beauty (unlike some of the more manicured parks in neighborhoods).

I have been coming here since I was a little girl. I love the park, it's amenities, and it has ok fishing. Fishing seemed better about 10 years ago but still a great lake to head to. Iv only caught rainbow trout and a carp once. My dogs have always enjoyed the lake aswell. Watch for red ants. And keep an eye out for Itty bitty lizards and some snakes. One day we even brought home a baby chicken that was all alone out there. Weird. The pathways are nice and I've never ran into any unpleasant people...
