We were looking for a place to hike nearby and saw this park on the maps. We have seen the signs for the park on the road, but never visited. Very nice short hiking trail through a bog that was formed during the glacial times. The trail is very level and it's completely on a boardwalk. So it is wheelchair and stroller friendly. There are plenty of benches provided to sit and listen. We went during the winter and even though the trail was completely covered in snow, we were able to hike around. Plenty of signs to read for those of us that are not familiar with the plants. The tail is almost entirely in the woods, so it would be a shaded hike... but I can only guess how mad the bugs would be with all the water. The parking lot is gravel and there are no restrooms or water. So be prepared. We are planning to come back to see the place in the spring or summer when the plants have leaves. Stop on by if you are near and want a short escape...
Read moreNice little nature walk / loop with helpful interpretive signs throughout. Very quiet and peaceful. Even though a number of other people were there, you didn't really see or hear them much due to the trees and the twists in the trail. Boardwalk pretty much all the way.
A couple of minor quibbles to bear in mind: The parking lot is very small. We went on a Saturday, while there weren't that many people on the trail, cars were already parking on the verge along the entrance road. It's a pretty short trail, so it won't take long to go around. However, that can be a positive depending on your circumstances. We didn't see any signs saying which direction to walk around the trail. We later figured out that it's best to take the entrance on the right (we took the one...
Read moreThis 1/2 mile loop is very well maintained all down in decking. It makes for a great walking surface with only slight incline in one area and minor areas where not flat. The path is two people wide and left nature intact. Very nice area to observe the unique nature and there is wildlife running about as in chimpmunks, squirrels, rabbits and snakes. Turtles and deer are possible also to my knowledge. Nice peaceful scenic walk. There are bugs of course so some spray depending on your desire could be handy. Nice clean well maintained parking is available. Highly enjoyed as long as you know what it is before going. ...
