Lots of great things about this pool. Lots of staff, clean facilities and a snack bar.
However, I feel like the lifeguards are not fully aware of policy, or if they are, they do not enforce it consistently. One of the life guards seemed to be hyper focused on yelling at my two year old son who has never been to a public pool before, commanding him to walk. He could have asked nicely or talked with me about it. I was tending to my infant and would have addressed the issue right away. There were other kids running yet my son was the only one called out while that lifeguard was there.
In a separate incident, my nephew (who JUST turned 3) walked towards another mother with a child because he loves babies. As a family member was going to get him to lead him away, the woman PUSHED MY NEPHEW and NOTHING was said to her! The family member who witnessed it didn't want to cause a scene but when I found out I was livid! Under NO CIRCUMSTANCE should an adult be putting their hands on someone else's child for any reason. If I would have witnessed the matter I would have wanted the woman to be at least given a warning, if not kicked out. To add insult to injury, the older children of this same woman later targeted my nephew and continued the physical assault their mother started by pushing and bullying my nephew, and the life guards on duty SAID NOTHING.
We were told we could not bring food/eat in the pool area, even at the picnic tables by the snack bar. We gladly complied. However, some lifeguards did not enforce this rule for other patrons and they were allowed to eat/bring food near the pool area.
Lastly, there was no clear signage posted (at least that I could see) saying that bathrooms and showers were off limits to the public when the pool temporarily closes at 12:30. We had children needing to get showered and dressed and use the bathroom who had to be rushed home to do so.
This pool has a lot of potential but there is work to be done to make this center welcoming for everyone.
Update: Reading other Google reviews from other people of color is disheartening. We were one of the only minority families there and I'm starting to wonder if our treatment was race related. I have emailed the Brookfield Parks and Rec department and am waiting on a response. Depending on what I hear back I will be escalating my concerns to the proper authorities.
Update 2: The Director of Parks and Rec never responded to me. She did respond to my sister about the woman who pushed my nephew. We both felt she was very dismissive about the issue. We were looking into filing a police report, but to my knowledge there are no cameras on site. Some actionable steps she could have taken that would be appropriate would be to consider installing cameras at the check in/payment area to identify people causing harm to others and better training for life guards to ensure they are interacting with children in a developmentally appropriate way and enforcing the rules for everyone consistently. Her response of "I'm sorry there's nothing I can do, next time talk to a manager" was completely...
Read moreI’ve been coming to this pool for years and used to truly enjoy it—especially two summers ago, when it was clean, safe, and very family-oriented. Sadly, that’s no longer the case.
During our most recent visit, we experienced serious issues with safety and respect from other guests. Despite having our belongings clearly on our benches, multiple people attempted to take over our space and even moved our property without permission. When I spoke up, one person became physically aggressive and threw a shoe at me. Police had to be called, and two individuals were arrested for disorderly conduct.
What really shocked me was learning from staff that this wasn’t the first incident like this recently—police had already been called multiple times in the past few days. On our way out, the same individuals returned with others, and we had to call the police again just to be escorted safely from the area.
The staff was professional, helpful, and did everything they could. They were the only positive part of the experience. Unfortunately, they are clearly overwhelmed by the lack of order and growing problems at this location.
That said, the environment itself has gone downhill. There was trash left all over, loud and aggressive behavior, and a complete lack of regard for other families. It felt chaotic and unsafe—nothing like the family-friendly pool it once was.
Until there are serious changes—like stronger security presence, better enforcement of rules, and more structure—I cannot recommend this pool, especially for families with kids. It’s incredibly disappointing to see how much it has changed in such a short time. It has become...
Read morePurchased a season pass to take my young daughter and the previous weekend ruined it. Large group of unruly teenagers/young adults blaring rap music on large Bluetooth speakers, girls literally wearing thong bikinis tweerking, filming themselves, and at point point even flashing themselves. Pool staff clearly didn't know how to handle this and it led to chaos, eventually leading to the arrival of Brookfield police. Same group began loitering in the parking lot very obviously smoking weed and creating an unfriendly environment. This is a family pool and this stuff should not even have been allowed in the first place. Bathing suits that are so revealing should never be allowed in a family setting, nor should carry in speakers. Unfortunately we will not be back until the pool can figure out a way to prevent situations like this from...
