I am a former/returning member of BUMC. The prime of my Youth Group days where spent here and I have so many good memories in the youth room. I spent 2 years under the direction of David Johnson and about 7 months under the direction of Mike Orr, both Men were outstanding. Broomfield United Methodist Church for me, is more than just church. It's where I started my relationship with Jesus. In 2012 when my Mom and I became members the first time, I was a troubled teen with an atheist father. My mom brought me to church and I thrived. Through the youth group program, I was mentored after my parents divorced and I was shown the right path by the youth pastor himself. I reaffirmed my Baptism here on 3/23/2014 and Pastor Cross walked me up the isle like when they do a baby baptism, even though I was 17. In 2017, less than a year after we were forced to transfer due to a change in family circumstance, I was told that I would be having hip replacement surgery at the astonishing age of 20. Scared, I tried to find someone at my own church to pray for me on surgery day. The senior pastor doesn't do hospital clergy and our church didn't have an assistant pastor. It was a long shot, but at my request Pastor Cross came to the hospital and prayed for me as they prepped me for the surgery on 6/14/17.
Earlier this year after we found out that the reason we changed churches in the first place, no longer exists I developed a longing to return to Broomfield UMC. For greater than 6 months I dealt with a spiritual low that only seemed to have one solution. One month ago this Sunday, just before Halloween I returned to BUMC for the first time in 3 years and while it was a little awkward, I will admit, I have turned a corner in my spiritual life. God has blessed BUMC with the open mindedness that the UMC was founded on and I look forward to maybe even rejoining the congregation, because as I said earlier, it's my home. God...
Read moreWords cannot describe this Church and Her People. From the leadership team, to the Pastoral Care, to the endless offerings of small groups, down to each and every member that I have encountered over the past two years.
I could write a book about BUMC and my experiences there recently. But I will sum it up with this...
This is what a church was meant to be. I have never seen or experienced anything like it, and mere words cannot do it justice.
Now this may change and if so I will leave and change this review. And I have a feeling that will never happen.
But until then... Broomfield United Methodist stands as the closest example I have ever experienced as to what a church, a body of Christlike believers, and an Outpost of the Kingdom of Heaven SHOULD be.
You have to see and experience...
Read moreBUMC is, has been, and will be our church home. I started going here in 2012 after my wife brought me, with me up until then being pretty staunchly anti-religion. The people probably had to put up with my smugness, but I was delivered the same message every time: you are loved here no matter what. This church and the people in it not only preach, but do their best to live "loving with no strings attached." They preach messages of love and acceptance no matter who you love, how you identify, or what your past or present are. This place is definitely a loving, kind place filled with people who feel very much the same. Anyone who comes here should expect to be embraced with open arms, and expect to meet people who will love and support them through any of life's hurtles...
