It’s definitely worth checking out when you’re in the area. There is so much history here! It costs nothing to check it out either! They have displays that explain everything. It’s very interesting! They have restrooms available here as well. They have lots of picnic tables and some are in the shade. There’s hiking trails all around too. The scenery around it is beautiful and they have a large patch of wild flower so you can see lots of birds and bees flying around. The parking lot is plenty big enough to hold a group...

We're working in Columbus, Ohio and thought a hike would be a good change of pace. I found Hope Iron Furnace while looking up Moonville (where we actually did hike) and thought this would be an interesting stop on our journey. It's fairly well preserved and quite a neat place. There are trails here, but we opted to hike elsewhere. If you're in the area and nostalgic about days of old, I think it's worth a look. There are public restrooms, but there wasn't toilet paper in all the stalls; you may want to...

Quite an impressive site if you are a history buff. Be sure to read all of the signage to understand that at one time this was a much bigger structure, but time has taken all but the stone core of the furnace.

Several hiking trails start here. The “named” trails look fairly difficult, but there is an unnamed (but well maintained) mostly grass trail going to the left as you face the furnace. I don’t know how far it actually goes, we were turned back by impending...

Great historic (and haunted) location to stop and check out. We made this location one of our stops during our tour of the Haunted Ohio Valley, and the legend surrounding the furnace was quite interesting. We had to stop and check it out. No cell service is available here, so make sure you know your way back out or have a strong GPS signal. You can see a full review on our blog site and YouTube channel for this location.
