My wife and I took our 5-year old granddaughter to this Sportway yesterday 7/25/24 to play miniature golf and ride go-carts. While playing miniature my granddaughter accidentally hit the golf ball into the water. When I went to the booth to obtain another ball I was surprised to find out I had to pay an additional $1.00.
It's not about the $1.00 it's about the principle. Miniature golf is played by mostly kids that do sometimes hit balls into the water. So if they lose a ball in the water they have to pay additional dollar. The business can now retrieve the ball and earn the extra dollar! Quite a scam!
Plus the girl working the booth when we first paid for the golf and when I had to buy the additional ball was very rude and had an attitude. Heard other people also complaining about the hired help and the stupid lost ball policy.
We watch our granddaughter on Wednesday and Thursday every week and have been taking her to Sportway once a week spending about $30.00 every time we go throughout the summer.
Because of this "money-grab" policy on lost golf balls and rude help that doesn't care about our business we will not be returning. So for a $1.00 golf ball you lost $30.00 a week of my business. Great business model!!!!
Response to Sportway Reply: I understand you have signage regarding lost golf balls. I'm not disputing that. Just because you have signage doesn't make the policy the right thing to do when you're dealing primarily with kids. You said you're looking to recover the cost of lost golf balls? These balls aren't Titleist balls. On Amazon you can get 100-colored balls for $25.00. Act like a few lost golf balls are going to break you! Need to make this business more...
Read moreGreat and cheap. Put put 18 holes for $7, go-karting for $6 for 1 rider, and batting cage practice for $1, only reason i give 4 out of 5 is the staff. Not really regulated, if you have a group of 4 or more on the hole in front of you, unless you skip and comeback you have to wait for them to finish, normally not bad but if its a group of teenagers ahead of you barely playing and your waiting... That sucks lol but tolerable. Reason I give 4 stars specifically is there was a woman at the go-kart and she couldnt strap herself in, was able to get it in just couldn't push the belt in herself cause she was a little big. Instead of helping her push it in, they gave her a belt extender and it ended up having the same problem because the belts dont extend from the bottom, so the extender didnt make a difference and made for an embarrassing scene/feeling because she still had the same problem and they didnt just click it for her which was all she needed to begin with. Staff just didnt know how to deal with bigger people in a courteous manner without embarrassing them...
Read moreFirst off, I believe the owners share locations in Canton and Toledo. Each location seems to offer different levels of fun and staff professionalism. This location had an awesome put-put golf course. Well laid out and plenty of shade to stop and rest. The pagoda in the center is amazing and offers a cool breeze most days. The golfing experience was much better at this location than to say the Westland location. Now, the go-carts were a whole different story! The go-carts at this location were old, slow, and worn out. The seat belts were defective on me and my daughters. There's not much fun when the carts go so slow that they can barely make it up the hill on the track course. The poor staffing couldn't be bothered to check seat belts, nor when we were finished, they didn't help guest unbuckle. A waste of $32 for the four of us. I hope in the future they hire staff that cares a little bit more about safety and less about girls riding. Also be prepared to pay $3.00 for a bottle of coke or...
