The Weverton Cliffs trail is well-known and is a part of the Appalachian mountain trail. There is a parking lot that can accommodate up to 30 cars, but visitors can also find street parking on the other side of the bridge.
The hike is rated as moderate, and for slow hikers, it may take up to two hours to complete. However, I was able to finish it in just 62 minutes. For those who plan to hike Weverton Cliffs, I recommend to wear good hiking shoes and bring water and snacks please.
Alcohol consumption is prohibited in the area, and a sign at the beginning of the trail serves as a reminder. I’ve also added a photo for reference.
Overall, the trail is great and offers stunning views, although it can be a bit rocky. However, it is well-marked, making it easy to follow the trail. Quick reminder to hikers, please keep your pets on a leash for everyone's...
Read moreWeverton Cliffs is an incredible spot that makes the hike well worth it! The trail is a short but steady climb from the parking area, and while it can be a bit steep in places, the payoff at the top is amazing. The overlook gives you sweeping views of the Potomac River and surrounding mountains—especially beautiful at sunrise or sunset. It does get busy on weekends, so I’d recommend going early in the morning or later in the evening if you want a quieter experience. The rocky ledge can feel a little narrow when crowded, but there’s still plenty of space to sit and soak it all in. Pack some water, wear sturdy shoes, and take your time on the climb. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Weverton Cliffs is a must-see stop for anyone who enjoys hiking and...
Read moreThis place is gorgeous! Park in the parking lot on Weverton Cliffs Road. To access the trail, don't go on the forest trail but walk down the road to the end and there are stone steps across the road leading up into the woods. This is the trail. It's pretty steep and a good incline at times. It twists and turns a good deal towards the top. I would say it's a moderate hike and is about 1.9 miles in and out. It took my husband and I 45 minutes in and out and we are in good shape and hike moderately. The view at the top is breathtaking. Go down the rocks a little for the best view. A lot of people go here and just chill on the rocks for awhile so I'd recommend a weekday so it's...
