I had high hopes for our planned birthday party at Texas Jolly Stone Pirate Cove, but unfortunately, our experience was nothing short of a disaster. Months in advance, we had made a reservation and paid a deposit for 5 pizzas to feed our hungry guests and kids. However, when we arrived at the Cove, things took a turn for the worse.
Upon our arrival, we were informed that our pizza order wasn't ready and that we would have to wait until 1 pm for our lunch. Understandably, our guests and especially the kids were starving, so we had to spend additional money to purchase fries and nachos to hold them over.
1 pm finally rolled around, and to our dismay, we were only given 2 out of the 5 pizzas we had ordered. When we approached the manager to inquire about the missing pizzas, her response was nothing short of disappointing. She simply apologized and informed us that we would have to wait an additional 30 minutes to receive the remaining 3 pizzas.
What truly made this experience unacceptable was the complete lack of communication throughout the entire process. There were no proactive updates on the status of our order, and when we asked for alternative solutions, the manager offered none. She simply told us to wait and explained that they were extremely busy, leaving us with no other options.
This entire experience was a letdown, to say the least. Planning a birthday party should be a joyous occasion, but our visit to Texas Jolly Stone Pirate Cove left us frustrated, hungry, and disappointed. I hope that the management of this establishment takes our feedback seriously and works on improving their service, communication, and overall customer experience...

We booked a week in the connecting campground and were very excited to take the kids to the waterpark.
The excitement stopped the moment we entered. Everything is run down and dirty. We didn’t have too high of expectations but it didn’t meet any.
There is barely any staff and when you to find someone it is a toss up if they will be nice or brush you off to talk to each other or stare at their phones.
We did fine the tube rentals which turned out to be a bit of chaos of its own. It’s $5 a tube and they are only used in the lazy river but when you set them off to the side of your table they are taken by other people before you can ride a ride and come back. So bring your own.
The lifeguards are generally not paying attention so make sure your child can swim well before you send them down the slides.
The cabanas are $40 a day and seem to not be cleaned or cared for. They are a single table with broken down chairs.
You cannot bring in anything of your own for drinks or food, so we visited the on site “grill”.
It was $80 for lunch for 5 people. The menu was out of stock to about half the choices the first few days. When they did restock the food was under or overcooked and the staff was either distracted talking with each other or annoyed we were there. The pizza is available but only meat choices and no vegetables toppings. My kids called it worse than their school lunch.
As for the rides, they are obviously neglected and should really have some updates.

Read moreWe took some out of state guests to PC, mainly because the local parks were so busy on the holiday weekend. I guess you could say this is an example of something being a bit different once you're inside the gates. The entrance to parking is not well marked and we ended up in the cabin area, trying to find our way to the main entrance. I believe there was only 1 shop, the main grill, and the snow cone stand that was open. All other concessions were still closed. Would recommend the owners spend some money on upgrades to the water park areas - things look and are a bit bedraggled to a first time guest. Not saying we wouldn't return, but for a 2 hour round-trip drive, will probably do something different next time. Additionally, grill was severely understaffed and poorly managed. When I spoke to the one young man who actually seemed to know what he was doing and suggested he make a suggestion for improvement, he hung his head and said the people in charge would probably let him go for even offering an idea on how to do something better. If this is remotely true, young man, cut your losses and go take your work ethics somewhere that appreciates hard workers. Also, found it odd, that although this is a water park, guests are not required to even wear flipflops into the grill area which has a smooth ( read slick) floor, no shirts required, and water dripping everywhere. Just a bit unsanitary. I'm not saying total coverage required, but perhaps the guests make...
