Wow! What a hidden gem this place is. You walk in the door and are immediately greeted by the friendly volunteers! Anne, Dave, Mark, and Hank were awesome and extremely knowledgeable about the displays and aircraft in the museum. If you've never been up close and personal with aircraft like the P-51 Mustang, T-6 Texan or the AD-4NA Skyraider then you have to stop by this museum. You can walk around of the aircraft that they own...provided they're not out flying. The impeccably maintained aircraft are accessible and can be photographed to your hearts content. The Docents are also available for detailed tours and are extremely knowledgeable about their subject matter. If you're in the area, you should stop by and see these historically significant pieces of flying art. It's inexpensive and easy to get to. The museum is currently open Thursdays through Saturday. The museum also does "fly days" every second Saturday of the month, where many of the planes are taken out for a flight. You'll like it, I...
Read moreVery small museum, just a few airplanes and some of the founders space memorabilia. These guys need to get more airplanes and some cool memorabilia. I’ve been to some small museums that have lots of cool artifacts to make up the difference in what they lack in aircraft. Not this one unfortunately. The most unique plane they have is one of the first aircraft shot down during the beginning of Pearl Harbor. Unfortunately not much else to see that would interest most aviation nerds. They do have flying aircraft that you might be able to watch fly, however you can do this for free on a day they are flying. If you’re not a die hard aviation fan I would recommend you skip this museum, just not enough to justify a special trip. If you have been to every airplane museum and want to waste $10...
Read moreMy gal and I had a wonderful time! A gentleman named Mark, even though he told us he had just started, lead our tour and was very professional and informative. Just a good natured and knowledgeable human. And there is a lot to learn about within those walls. Can not wait to make it back for the fly days and bring the niece and nephew. Wonderful pieces of American history.
As the Grandson of a Pearl Harbor survivor (Bilodeau, Maurice J. WT2c) it's all very humbling and I'm grateful to the Anders family for their dedication to preserving and tending to legitimate artifacts of America's story. Thank you all. Keep up the good work. And keep helping people learn! Absolute gem just tucked away up there in Skagit County....
