Finding the beach can be a little tricky with all the construction and a narrow pelt marked gap between 2 buildings indicate the entrance to the park.
Once through that the spaces opens for a lot of rv parking and you even go through a tunnel that goes under an amazing bike trail. The approach to the beach is beautiful: the road winds down revealing the green promenade and the mighty Lake Champlain.
The parking lot has lots of pot holes and is also prone to flooding, but there is plenty parking spaces.
There is a small bar and "restaurant", that serves heaping pulled off nicely salted fries, a basic but delicious hotdog, and hamburgers (which I never tried).
There is a bathroom, changing room, and foot showers. On the south tip of the beach you can rent kayaks and paddle boards.
This beach is one of my favorite beaches in the country. Beautifully silky smooth sand that gradually slopes into the water and continues is gentle trajectory for quite a long time. You could be a quarter mile out and still be in waist deep water. The water is usually quite pleasant though more than one the wind picks up and it can get very wavy, but I enjoy this personally.
The promenade is grassy and pleasant to have a picnic, though it is prone to flooding when it rains.
Just north of the beach is a beautiful nature trail that takes you along the lake and eventually to a more jagged coast where people with boats drive up to the rocks to climb and then jump off them.
All and all a great place to spend the day or...
Read moreBeen going here since I was a little kid. Not much has changed. The negative reviews are generally about Burlington. Ultimately it's camping, if you're looking for glamorous perfection it's not that. Showers used to cost a quarter they're now free, but not super hot. The homeless population in the area has definitely grown but I can't see how people are blaming the campground for that. Was quiet and no one bothered us while we were there. Cars come and go during the day but feel that's kind of to be expected. The beach was clean and the water was pristine. Really nice for little ones, as it was not weedy or slimy by the shore, the waves were small and almost non-existent, and the depth was very gradual. My 2 year old loved running around in the water where he could touch the ground. All in all will be back and looking back it's pretty much the same I remember it being...
Read moreI actually loved my time here although many locals tell me not to go here. You do have to pay for parking $8 for the day. The beach is very big and long, the water shallow and good clarity. It definitely had more of a college chick/bro vibe. Young kids playing beer pong and stuff like that. But the amenities are great! There's a restaurant to have lunch (I haven't tried it but it puts my mind at ease to know I can grab from or even a water in an emergency). Large mostly clean bathrooms. A large area devoted to playgrounds for little and big kids. My daughter had a blast here and took time to play on the slides and in the water. I could see if becoming overcrowded or just a giant college party so I think we got lucky. Pick your day of visit with that in mind and you...
