I recently had a wedding at Edgewood on 6-10-23 and I just wanted to provide feedback on our day.

To preface, we booked Edgewood in February of 2022, and not once in this entire planning process with Elaine did I ever imagine so many things going wrong. She was always so assuring, that I never had a doubt about Edgewood being the best place for our reception.

I dropped all of our decor off on Thursday night. Everything was labeled or explained to Elaine for exact placement that night and she assured she had everything covered.

Upon arriving to our reception on Saturday, I walked in to guest already sitting in the room, when John and I were supposed to have a first look. It was drizzling, however it did not start to drizzle until about 5 minutes prior to when we arrived and it looks like cocktail hour was not even set up to be outside. Besides the point, that was only little and I have overlooked that.

Excited to see the room, I immediately noticed the table skirts I had bought were not on the head table, our candles for our centerpieces were not lit and alternating centerpieces were not filled with water completely and the memory table on the piano was not set up correctly.

Specific pictures were sent to Elaine the morning of with name tags and placement of who belonged where on the memory table. As I know this seems minor, my grandfather passed away on 6-10-2011 and it was important to me that he was up front & center on our day. I can understand we had a lot of photos, and the arrangement needed to be tweaked alittle but the fact the name tags were incorrect, really caught me off guard.

Elaine originally said they lost the skirts and would go find them. A few minutes later, Elaine came over to me stating the skirts were not fitting. However, by text I confirmed they were 2 8ft tables put together, and I bought 2 9ft skirts. So there was no reason they should have not fit across the front.

Matt came up to me a few minutes later, assuring we would be going on the bridge for photos - which was great news! I was so excited for our bridge pictures. We went on the bridge for photos, and I assumed everything was getting resolved. Anything I wanted, or needed Matt was great! Always with a smile, he was there.

We got back from photos, and we were supposed to have our appetizers in the bridal suite for us to try and up until a few days ago when someone mentioned how good the ravioli was, I was convinced no appetizers were served.

Time for dinner, I was walking around and understood that my food may have been cold from not sitting immediately. However, the more people we spoke to, all said the food was delicious but cold.

In reference to the bar, there are a few concerns: Prior to this, I was going to have a Pink Lemonade Margarita. However, with it being $75.00 extra I decided against it. Elaine offered to color it with pink food coloring but I told her to keep it plain. My maid of honor sat down next to me with a drink and I asked her what she got. She stated she got my signature drink and I was confused why it was pink after confirming (by text and over a phone call I didn’t want that). For a period of time, there was 1 bartender making the line long, but I can understand staffing is an issue. At 6PM, John was speaking to a guest and mentioned the bar should be reopening now. Elaine over heard and advised they are running behind, and the bar will not be opening now. However, we paid for 5 hours open bar so running behind should not have been a factor. Our send off station was soft pretzels and popcorn. The popcorn was put out with dessert and pretty much gone half way through the reception instead of being put out with the pretzels.

When we picked our belongings up the next morning, I was in shock how everything was thrown in boxes. I can understand that tear down happens quickly and everyone wants to head home, however everything was packaged nicely when it arrived at Edgewood as a lot was glass, and now things...

I'm surprised this course has such a high average. I mean, it's not a bad place, but 4+ stars out of 5? Nah. The drainage seems to be a problem, as there was standing water all over the place. Virtually every bunker had a puddle in it - in fact, my dad (with whom I was playing) lost a ball in a bunker, because the puddle was so deep and wide that we just couldn't find it in the murky depths. The greens were soggy, which is unfortunate, because the areas near the hole were getting chewed up and, to be blunt, destroyed. I have played courses in downpours that had less standing water.

The drainage issues could be overlooked, if other aspects of the course were excellent... but they weren't. The fairways and rough are somewhat patchy, and there are plenty of clovers and weeds growing around the course. The fairway were cut a bit long (though I will attribute this to the fact that the course was soaked), but the grass was also a little sparse in many spots. The cart paths are total garbage... when there are cart paths, that it. Sometimes they were paved, sometimes they were gravel, sometimes they were dirt, and sometimes they weren't there. Also, the course is poorly marked, so we had to use the card to find the next hole a couple times. Additionally, the individual holes were poorly marked - sometimes there were no markings, sometimes there was a pole at 150 yards, sometimes there were a couple poles, sometimes there were just sprinkler heads with yardages poorly etched into them... overall, you are going to have to eyeball some of your shots while you are playing here (not the worst thing in the world, but I know that some people really prefer a well-marked track). Finally, the layout is a bit disappointing. There is some elevation change at times, but for a northeastern PA course it is surprisingly flat. Many holes also run parallel - you know the type.... straight out, then directly back, then out, the back. I'd say about half the course was like this. When you break this mold and get a dog leg and some water or something, it's actually pretty entertaining, but it just seems like they didn't make the most of the property they had. Parts of the design just scream 'lazy and generic'. Oh, and there was geese everywhere... and all the joys that come with them.

It''s not the worst course in the world, and we got to play it right around noon on a Sunday for 27 dollars with a cart. That's a reasonable rate for what we got. I'd give it a solid 3/5, and if I lived nearby, I would play there probably multiple times a year. Hell, I had a terrible day (I'm sick with the shanks) and I still had some fun... but I just don't see myself driving up there to play Edgewood again for awhile, given the Blue Ridge is clearly a better course and is so close. Even Sand Springs is a good bit ahead of Edgewood. Again, the place Edgewood wins out is value; an decent 18 hole course for 27 dollars, with a cart, at noon is worth it (if you're...

Recently got married here towards the End of July.

Overall Thoughts: My and my wife really enjoyed this venue and the staff that work here.

Rehearsal: Flexible with great food, some of the guests were a full hour and a half late and we were able to push dinner back last minute after we had arrived at the expected time already. We were walked through the day of ceremony and had a good idea for what was going to be happening the next day. They also allowed us to stay if we wanted to finish putting some stuff together for the wedding.

Ceremony: Beautiful site they set everything up for us we just needed to provide directions and locations of where we wanted stuff. Very flexible on what we were able to set up and bring. Only suggestion here is to bring something to hide the bride until she starts her walk as she will be noticeable slightly before she starts her walk. We used a white umbrella which worked really well. The Ceremony location can get a little mushy as it is in the grass if it has rained heavily the night before. This wasnt really an issue for us as of the sun drying the grass out. But its something to watch out for if you are going to be wearing heals.

Reception: The reception area can be blocked off from the cocktail hour so guests cant get an idea of how the reception hall looks until you are ready to have your guests let in. They also put everything together here for us again we just had to say where and how we wanted stuff. Also any last minute changes of seating and other things were accommodated with out any issues.

Staff: Samantha, Abigal and the entire rest of the staff was great. Very accommodating and friendly. They also provided quick email/phone responses when we had changes or any questions. The cake was very delicious and beautiful but the baker can not do extremely complex designs if that is something you are looking for. The staff was even able to accommodate using some dry ice for decorations as long as we provided instructions of how to use it. Very accommodating to our themed wedding to everything from having weapons (swords) to naming the alcoholic drinks.

Recommendations: If your planning a wedding give your self a larger window between the ceremony and cocktail hour beginning for pictures. We planed for an hour but due to running late and some other things we lost most of that hour and we did not get to take as many pictures as we wanted before cocktail hour was ending and we needed to get back.

Transportation Options: uber is available in the area but from the town south, maybe a 5 - 10 minute wait...
