A+! A+! A+!

Attended as part of Fall Homeschool Program. Superb experience!!!!!!!! The only negative is we didnt get to participate in the Freedom Walk and we really would have loved to!!!!!

Laurie (Lori?) and Mary were excellent in their roles. Very knowledgeable and very passionate about the slave cabin and the enslaved men and women who were forced to make Stagville their new "home". They truly made the experience come alive for my daughter and Laurie was just phenomenal in explaining questions my daughter thought of AFTER program ended at 4pm! Thank you!!!

Ms. McNeil in the school teacher role was very authentic and her authoritative demeanor gave a realistic portrayal of school in those times. Loved the Greek Alphabet, writing on slate chalkboards, the hornbook and corporal punishment reenactments.

I can't remember her name, but the woman in the barn with woodcarving was also very excellent!!! My arms are stillllll aching from the sawing activity 😮🙂.

Loved making the cowrie shell jewelry and the games, exploring the cemetery and seeing those weird green bumpy apples. GREAT DAY!!!!...

My family and I really enjoyed visiting the Stagville plantation. This was my first experience visiting a plantation and I was really moved by the energy of the grounds. I couldn't help but picture my ancestors throughout the plantation and all they endured for me to be free today. To wander the grounds and houses with such deep history really made me feel a connection to the past and to who I am and where I've come from. To learn of the cowry shells, dolls, and other items found in the walls that were left by the slaves- so moving to say the least... To see the actual finger indentations in the bricks that were from the enslaved men and women who formed the clay bricks was something I didn't expect to see and it made me emotional. I thank the sustainers for keeping this piece of living history up and running. I look forward to bringing my children back to learn more and connect with our past. "They didn't steal slaves from Africa- they stole Scientists, Doctors, Architects, Teachers, Artists, Entrepreneurs, Astronomers, Mothers, Fathers, Daughters and Sons and turned them into...

Love my experience and my tour guide!!

By chance me and my partner were able to get a sort of private tour and the history lesson was amazing. It was such a small intimate and educational tour. The explanation the story line and the details our guide provided was everything even the personal inputs and conversations that were able to be drawn based on the facts and details for what it was like being enslaved here or even the perspective view for the owners view was superb. The expressed attention to detail and description giving for even buildings that never remained almost made me feel as if I was immersed in the very moment. I was even lucky enough to be on property while descendants of the enslaved people gathered to celebrate their family heritage. It was such a blessing to encounter and learn. The time of the tour was a good time quality and even with all that was shared and explored I was still intrigued to know more! I wish that the Farintosh Farm participated as their farm relates to the family history! That would just make this tour even the...

Stagville is an exceptional historical site. The staff is extremely organized and diverse. I’ve visited multiple times for various events and it has always been welcoming, informative, and sincere depictions of a difficult element of the American experience. The staff is full of well read and articulate historians. I’ve done the tour with different tour guides and I learn something new EVERYTIME. Today I went for a cooking demonstration with The Chronicles of Adam. Dontavius was so informative and creative in his presentation. I learned so much about the food and home life of the enslaved populations throughout the south. I am so grateful to be in the know about Stagville and their many events and tours. I will continue to visit and bring people here for years to come. I’m proud of the history shared here and I hope more people embrace our past so we can learn from it and move forward together. Thank you to everyone who works and volunteers here. You all are the hopes and dreams of the enslaved.

Wow! This was my first visit. I was shocked to learn of this plantation. What were the white people thinking. The Cameron and Benneehan families were evil and sadistic. They remain the same until today. This tour provided clear insight into the evils of slavery and those who benefited from it. This is a must see tour. The docent was excellent and wonderfully informative. I never thought of reparations but after seeing and experiencing the utter shamelessness of these families I believe some must be done. Those families should have to give up all their possessions and wealth and titles and everything given in a quity way to the descendants of those slaves. What an embarrassment to our state and our nation. Informative and shameful. This is a must attend tour.
