This was our first time here. If you are expecting a Great Wolf Lodge or Aquatopia type of “water park” you’ll be sorely disappointed. It’s literally a small lake with a few slides. We pulled up and the girl who was the parking attendant counted how many people are in your party and immediately collects the admission fee. As we started to drive past the lady that was working with her yells out loud “Did they pay” to the girl who took our money. Very bizarre. We get to the park and I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was not that crowded. They have picnic tables that are reserved and some that are not. We were going to sit at a picnic table but then decided to sit on the beach area. You can bring your own food which is a huge plus. We then go to buy wristband tickets and we waited 10 minutes in line for the worker to show up. Then she gets there and starts fiddling with everything in the area before she finally looks up to help us. She did explain everything clearly and was friendly so that somewhat made up for the way it began. Our biggest source of frustration was the layout of the 4 ft and under area ( Papoose land) And then the secondary area for kids 5 feet and under. The area for the 5 feet and under children was completely mis -matched to the area for the small kids. There were a few lily pads to climb on and literally one bucket that dumped water on you. The smaller kids area had several slides, lily pads, multiple water buckets. It was obvious the lifeguards weren’t enforcing the 4 ft and under rule so we finally told our two older kids to go play over there too otherwise they would’ve been bored out of their mind all day. The slides were ok but one of them the kids climbed up and waited 10 minutes and then we finally told them to come back down and it turns out the lifeguard wasn’t going to get back till 1 o’clock. It was literally 12 o’clock. The person running the ride should’ve said to the kids why don’t you go back down and come back later instead of having them stand there before we finally told them to come back down ourselves. They had live music later on in the day by the bar which was pretty nice. Overall it’s a fairly inexpensive place for the family to go for the day but if you are expecting anything elaborate you will be disappointed. The phrase “you get what you pay “for definitely...
Read moreOn May 30th 2016 I took my family from Gaithersburg Maryland to Tomahawk Lake Water Park. We arrived around 2:30 pm. immediately; we were informed that cash was the one and only method of payment. I went ahead and purchased tickets for three adults and three children to which I requested a receipt and this was denied by an employee who later on informed us that they do not provide receipts for above mentioned transactions. I found it awkward and weird. Additionally, the employee instructed us to park my vehicle on the grass, this is not only illegal but also against all city parking rules. He also gave me a yellow paper with instructions of where to park as if a person holding a driver license wouldn’t know where and how to park. The paper reads “Vehicles must park where directed”. He vehemently informed me “we are responsible for any damages caused to your vehicle, park your vehicle where I am instructing you, since he gave me the instructions in black and white I went ahead and proceeded.
Around 5:25 pm I was walking to my vehicle and I noticed when a blue pickup was reversing and hit my car. There was no one inside of my car and with the engine off, totally parked as previously instructed. There were a few eyewitnesses who immediately told me to call security. Unfortunately, there was no one from security who could assist me at the main gate. The driver who hit my car ran away since the main gate was wide open without any security or team member present. Without hesitation I grabbed my cell phone and called 911 to request for assistance. I went to the beach area and an employee by the name of Miguel dispatched security over the radio. It took almost twenty minutes for security to arrive to the “parking lot”, Miguel and a manager who refused to give me his name. The manager blatantly told me “that is why you pay insurance” you need to call the police; we are not responsible for any damages caused to your car. Obviously, the lack of accountability is huge.
Once the police arrived, the officer who took all details pertaining to the incident including information from a man who eyes witnessed the incident.
Additionally, it is important to mention that a car was stolen from the parking facility the same day my car was hit, a clear indication that there is not accountability...
Read moreI've read a lot of reviews and many of them have been negative. I've been going her for the past 3 years and have loved it! The list of things that you cannot do I guess is annoying but it wasn't a huge deal. I didn't even think it was a bad thing until I read the reviews. Also the prices were not terrible. The price of the wrist bands for the water slides range from $12-15 depending on your age and the day that you go. I don't think this price is that expensive for unlimited water slides. And the admission ranges from $11-$14 depending on your age and the day that you go. I thought the water slides were a lot of fun and the lake was clean and fun. The place was crowded but I mean, they can't really help that. I guess that means their business is doing great! And if you go on a weekend, you have to expect that. The lake was more crowded than the water slides and the lines for the water slides were all relatively short and the longest I had to wait for a slide was probably around 10 minutes. I actually like it better than the really big, well known water parks. The reason I did not give is 5 stars is because of the staff. For the most part, all the lifeguards were rude and very unhelpful. As soon as you hit the water they scream "GET OUT OF THE TUBE!" It's like, I know I have to get out of the tube..thanks for all your help. You actually have to give me a second to get off the tube. I understand they want to keep the line moving but their is no need to be mean about it. Also, I saw someone having trouble getting out of the tube and swimming back to the doc and the life guard didn't even flinch. Her husband had to help her out of the water and you could tell they were really struggling and the lifeguard did not even ask if they were okay or get out of his chair. So you have to be a very good swimmer because you cannot expect the lifeguards to help. And I did not see any alcohol or drunk people any time I went! This is a very family friendly area. Everyone who is there is with they're family. There is always babies, toddlers, teenagers, etc., because it is fun for everyone. I would recommend people to go here if they like having fun, eating great food, and doing all of this for a...
