UPDATE: Because Waterloo is choosing not to give us our money back, we chose to stick wit the August 21 date. My attorney looked over their unprofessional and made up addendum and my fiancé and I discussed that we just want our wedding so let’s move forward with August 21. Tuesday I get an email from Maria saying she gave our date away because the addendum wasn’t returned Monday night. Now usually in the past she has let us know that she needed it, instead she gave the date away! Now there is nothing left and she won’t send the proof someone else signed the addendum before I did. I responded and sent her the addendum after she emailed that and she refused to answer me and refused to pick up her phone. Legal action is still moving forward and news channels and the mayor were contacted. It’s sad how a grown woman is choosing to be spiteful and give our wedding date away after all we’ve been through. Again in the past she has contacted us asking if we got her email. We’re busy, we have personal things we’re dealing with and Maria punishes us by giving our date up? Why because I left bad reviews that were well deserved?? (That she mentioned in another email). All of our vendors are also aware and disgusted as we have to keep changing our date with them also!
BRIDES BEWARE!!!!!!!!
Absolutely horrible business, as beautiful as this scenery is.
On March 28, 2020 we were supposed to have our wedding with Jeffrey A. Miller Catering at Waterloo Village. 2 weeks before our wedding we spoke with Maria Weingrad on the phone with concerns about our gathering due to the global pandemic that started happening. At that point Maria Weingrad had informed us that it will all be okay and we have up until the weekend before our scheduled day to make the decision to reschedule, continue with March 28th, or receive a full refund because this is at no one's fault. We chose to keep March 28. The following week our nation went into a state of emergency and business’ and gatherings were forced to be closed. This was NO fault of ours as Waterloo Village could not provide us with any type of services, yet is willing to keep our money. They are not willing to give back our deposit and on top of it they think it’s right to keep 50% of our 6 month payment! In a national pandemic (which the contract states NOTHING ABOUT) they are willing to steal money for services they haven’t and can not provide. Our attorney is aware and further action will be taken. New channels and the mayor also have been contacted and reached. I’m disgusted and disappointed at such poor moral behavior. I will post the unprofessional emails sent back from...
Read moreThe state of New Jersey's half-hearted attempt at historic preservation. I went with my wife and toddler daughter during the week in Spring. I understood that the buildings wouldn't be open for interpretation but we figured there would be signs explaining the buildings and sites. I was incredibly dissatisfied. Firstly, there was no map or maps available for us. So we had no idea where we were or what we were looking at. All attractions, historical or not, should have a map at the entrance... at the least. Second, the very few signs they had were illegible. They were all scratched up or sun bleached. It made the signs absolutely useless. But, I can't reiterate enough there were very few interpretive signs. My daughter was asking what the buildings were and I just had to give educated guesses. Finally the only staff member that was there was pretty rude. I'm guessing he was a groundskeeper but nonetheless, we're patrons of a public park, you could be friendlier. I will give them one nice comment, there were chickens, a goose, and two alpacas. That was pretty cool... even though not historically acurate.
I was just very disappointed. I had been looking forward to checking out this place for over a year. Definitely would not recommend.
One last post script, it appears the state is attempting to make the village a destination venue for weddings and the like. The two new buildings on the site were halls of some sort for parties. I'm assuming the state cares more about bringing in a revenue than preserving...
Read moreMy fiancé and I just had our group tasting at Waterloo Village prior to our April 2023 wedding. There was SO many different options to try from in all areas such as cocktail hour drinks passed, hors d’oeuvres, cocktail hour food stations, appetizers, dinner items, cakes, dessert enhancements, and even a to go goody bag with treats! It was great having so many options to try from and gave us a clear vision for our wedding menu. Some of our favorites were the tomahawk steak, hanging pretzels, barbecue in a jar, salmon croquette, flat iron steak, and churros! We don’t know what was better, the presentation or the taste! To top it off, Jeffrey Miller was there himself chatting with guests and cooking delicious dishes which made it an even more personalized experience. All of the employees were extremely informative and happy to answer any questions we had. We are even more excited to have our upcoming wedding and for our guests to try all the fantastic dishes! It was a wonderful Saturday outing with my fiancé as it also allowed us to explore the venue and further envision our special day at such a beautiful venue. Kudos to the JAM team for all your hard work and friendly staff!...
