Overall the atmosphere of this establishment is relaxed and helpful. I have been going on and off whenever I am back from college (so about a half-year) but I will not be returning for awhile. As I was climbing, I discovered that some of the shoes I rented developed some holes. I went to the counter and asked an employee for a new pair seeing that my previous ones were ripping. He gave me another pair of shoes that were rather worn, and as I went to put them on I realized that one shoe had a minor tear in the big toe. Thinking not much of it, I began to climb for about an hour and upon returning the shoes I was informed that I would NEVER be able to rent shoes again. After explaining that they already had a minor tear, the employee denied the statement and stared at me expecting a response. I agreed with the statement, not wanting to get into an argument, and left the establishment. Honestly, the rest of the employees were really helpful and understanding, I just feel uncomfortable knowing that if I rent a pair of shoes I may be in danger of losing the ability to rent them. On top of this, I didn't know that if a pair ripped then I would be prevented from renting them ever again. I found the non-professional and unfriendly attitude of this employee something that may prevent me from returning for quite a awhile. If this rule was established upfront I would have been too afraid to rent shoes in the first place. However, I would like to say that I apologize for potentially doing something that prevented me from frequenting that...
Read moreTwo months ago I had never climbed a rock wall outside of a carnival. After our first visit we signed up for six months at this gym! They do a great job of keeping the gym low in numbers so Covid wise we are safe while being super friendly and helpful. The second time we walked in Morgan behind the counter knew our name and it already felt like we were regulars.
Their rental prices are great and the routes vary in difficulty, some look like they are for decorations while others are straight forward with everything between, not to mention they are always in the process of updating their routes so you feel like you never get bored.
They have a fantastic bouldering side too which is awesome to work on harder moves closer to the ground. They really have something for everyone and we even brought some little ones with us and they were able to enjoy all the gym offered (plus they fell right asleep after!)
There might be fancier and more modern climbing gyms but this one is everything and more for...
Read moreThis rock climbing gym is great. They have climbing opportunities for all levels of skill and ability. For newbies, they have beginner lessons to teach you to both climb and belay (holding the rope for the other person climbing so if they fall, they don't get hurt). And there beginner lessons are much better priced than some other gyms. They also have rental equipment.
For the moderately experienced to extremely skilled, they have plenty of routes to challenge you. They have top rope, lead climbing, and bouldering. They offer a class to learn lead climbing, and they don't gatekeep by requiring you to be able to climb a 5.10 like other gyms.
It's the third oldest climbing gym in the country. Some gyms have that commercial feel to them, but this one feels more like family. It isn't as big or as tall as some of those other gyms, but there's a solid community.
Inside Moves is a great climbing gym and you would be missing out if you never...
