Super cool. Saw bats and a whip scorpion on the wall of the cave. It IS a little difficult to get to, if you don’t have a car w/ big wheels or 4 wheel drive the last stretch of road is not for you. The trail is there, it’s a bit over grown and the wooden bridge over the lagoon is damaged but passable (it’s only a few feet deep, not like you’d fall to your death or anything). It was actually a few inches underwater when we went (right after hurricane Fiona) but we crossed anyway. Made for a fun adventure.
The first cave is moreso just rocks piled on each other and was small, didn’t look too safe. The real cave is a little further and you climb down into it. Just follow the yellow markers.
You can see the lagoon from a lookout by the ruins if you don’t want to walk the...
Read moreA great hike above the beautiful coastline of Buye Beach. The trail heads up away from the shore (with great views of the water) and deeper to the mountain and near by bird sanctuary lagoons. Plus, a fenced display of structural ruins from the 18th century or earlier. The caves are not easy to get to or get into to so bring water and be prepared if going inside. Not recommended for the whole family if heading to caves. Lots of bats and some large snakes. Also easy to sprain ankle if not careful walking in and out of cave. Great park for hikers and nature lovers. Bring lunch if doing the whole trail since it’s long. Maybe 3 hrs if making stops to explore...
Read moreWent on the weekend. The road leading to the park serves as a congested parking area for the beach for about 1km, it can take some time to get in as it's basically 200 cars trying to go both directions on a single lane road with cars parked on the side. The trail however is nice and the cave is actually very cool! Climb down in it past the first cavern and it will surprise you. There are some good sized bats in it but it's actually quite a...
