If you are here in Orange County, or planning to visit Orange County, this place could be something that you can add to your itinerary because of its uniqueness. Modjeska Historical House was built in 1800’s by Helena Modjeska, a Polish actress to be her home after leaving Poland in late 1800’s. This place gives the luxurious 1800’s vibe which is to this day maintained as best as they can by OC parks and the docents. Entrance is Free!!! Hours of operation 10:00am to 2pm only. Closed on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday. But the tour the docents give is the icing on the cake! They are so well versed with the historical facts of this house as if it just happened yesterday. Kids can take home a coloring book/activity book if you ask one of the docents. The place is equipped for picnics. This place is surrounded by redwood trees and other shady trees that makes it perfect for a quick lunch picnic. Tag us on your adventures if you ever come to this quaint cottage! #modjeskahistorichouse #modjeskacanyon #california #orangecounty #1800s #history #travel #travelwithkids #travelwithtoddler @Rockwell B

Absolutely charming! It was like being transported back in time. You get nature, history, & architecture in one hidden gem of a spot. The group that maintains this picturesque site are passionate, dedicated, and delightful to talk to. If you care at all about preserving some of history's treasures, do yourself a favor and visit.

If you haven’t already checked out the Arden Helena Modjeska House, you are in for a treat! Best advice is to email the OC Historical Society department and request a docent led tour. They are offered weekly, on Wednesdays, at 10am, arrival time no later than 9:30 due to parking. (And if you are fortunate enough to have Victor as your docent, you’re really in for a treat!!) The Arden House is a gem like no other and to actually get to witness the ingenuity that a woman from The 1800’s had with respect to building designs, decor, farming, building the very first pool in all of OC, incorporating “red light light” therapy into her daily routine…and spoiler alert, to experience the gardens she and her staff created are awe inspiring to the core! (Especially the REDWOOD TREES!!!) It is a free tour, you simply must call or email the OC Historical Society (Google “Arden Helena Modjeska House Docent led tours and it will provide the information needed to make the reservation). I recommend allowing a good 2 hours to experience the tour and then walk the gardens and ask questions and although its a free tour, tips And donations are greatly appreciated!!! Afterwards, head over to Heritage Hill in lake Forest and continue your love of...

I can't believe how Serene this place was. I spent hours just sitting, relaxing, meditating, even napping! And listening to the beautiful sounds of the woodpeckers and other birds. It was autumn so there was no water in the stream, but I'm guessing in the spring the space is filled with echoes of the water...
