There are several trails at this state park. The entrance is down a single lane gravel road so don't be fooled into thinking it's a private property, there is a small sign saying State Park property. We did a 4 mile loop that had about 500' of elevation gain. There was sporadic shade but during the midday there isn't as much shade. Parking is abundant in a gravel and dirt lot and it wasn't too crowded when we did this in mid July (but it was a bit warm). Good hike with a couple views of the lake but mostly just large pines.

A nice hike that had hardly any hikers on it. Great for bringing a dog, ample parking, definitely pay attention to the directions on maps as it is one lane and looks like you're going onto private property. Whether you start from the left or the right side of the trail you go uphill for quite a ways, I wouldn't say one side is easier to go up than the other. Lots of great trees to look at and a viewpoint or two of the lake.

Burton Creek State Park is a nice State Park to go hiking or mountain biking at. There is a mix of fire road and single track trails throughout the park. Nothin to exciting to see, but the small meadows in the higher elevations of the park are nice. Can easily see the whole park in 3 hours or less.

In summer, there are many trails that could be mixed and matched to create a desired difficulty. The trail I took followed Burton creek and eventually went around Antone Meadows. Small views of Lake Tahoe and surrounding area. Parking was free.

Nice trails. I take my dog on runs here all the time. A nice, endless web of trails, although no really great views. Close to my house, so easy access. Trails used by x-country center in the winter.

Inclines are worth it. Currently full of flowers. Really perfect place to run, walk, and if you bike....this is it. This is where you go. A PLUS ON THE SHADE.
