Beautiful an spacious. Not many if any state parks that have such a beautiful scenery. Tons of trees very clean never have i seen liter or traces of any one vandalizing the property. The restrooms are clean for them being just the basic concrete walls with toilets and doors for privacy, sinks with water that works i believe they even have soap. I've not experienced a time when toilet paper was not available. There are enough bathrooms considering how big the place is but it is quite the walk in between. There are also family size private restrooms with enough space for strollers to fit. Overall this place is one u wont forget. Playground equipment is newer than most with a good variety of things to play on and age appropriate. Seating and tables are not forgotten about they're every where. Whats a day of fun with the family including dogs with out a bit of history mixed in. They still have displays of past history on the grounds so visitors can get an idea of the indians who once called live oak park there home. Only down side is considering how far it is from town or any convenience stores they should have a soda machine available for us that forgot a drink or didnt exactly plan on a trip to the park but had the urge to stop just from passing by and seeing how peacful it looked an uncrowded like most other parks u come across...
Read moreThis is a 27-acre picturesque park filled with live oaks, walking paths, benches, various picnic areas, BBQs, and a small stream. The oak trees are stunning and provide the most beautiful filtered light for taking photos! The shade provided by these majestic trees would also provide the perfect respite from the heat during the summer.
There's also a great playground area (which was closed off due to covid-19), various sports fields, basketball courts, and a leash-free dog area which is open Thurs-Tues.
The park has a cool amphitheater with fixed tiered seating, as well as adjacent picnic areas, rest rooms and a dance pavilion which provide a beautiful natural setting for weddings or other private events.
There is a $3 per vehicle day-use fee, or you can get an annual pass for $25. We visited on a recent Sunday right before more Covid lockdowns. The lot was unmanned, playground area was closed off and the park was not at all crowded.
We stopped to stroll around and check the park out on our way to Oceanside, but will definitely be back to spend more time here! Our grandkids would love this park when they...
Read moreThis park was absolutely beautiful! My boyfriend took me for a walk through the botanical garden section, continued around the exercise loop, and then went back around to look at the amazing rock walls, canal, bridge. There are large boards with information about the historical significance of the park, the local wildlife you can expect to see there during different seasons, as well as upcoming and past community events art the park. The play structure is interesting and looks very fun. It also looks well built, sturdy, and seems very safe. There are two separate play structures, right next to eachother. One structure looks to be appropriate for children up to 5 years old; while the other one looks appropriate for children over 5. I definitely recommend this park for families, people who like the outdoors, and people with furry children. My dog had a lot of fun checking out all the smells and taking a very scenic walk. Plus they have stations with potty bags to pick up after your dog, which is really nice in case some forgets to...
