My now wife and I visited this winery the day after we got engaged as part of a Platypus wine tour in 2018. It was our last stop of the day, and from first sip we were hooked. They produce some of the best wines my wife and I have ever tasted. They are estate bottled and unfiltered and even the newest releases have more age on them than do most other wineries' wines.
We joined the wine club and have loved receiving the quarterly shipments, which always include one library wine (all of which have been amazing). In a world where wine has become very corporate, mass-produced, and impersonal, this winery is the exact opposite of that. You can really tell that they care about winemaking and this is reflected in the nose/taste of their wines. If you are thinking about joining their wine club, do it. I constantly recommend Mckenzie-Mueller to all of my friends/family and encourage them to visit/purchase. We would love to go back when we can visit the Napa area again, but for now we will enjoy/cellar if we can resist drinking. Truly a...
Read moreWhat a great family winery! The family's father Bob is the winemaker and grower (he started in the biz at Mondavi) and one of his 5 children has joined the business. They started this winery in 1986 and had their first vintage in 1990. I love their unique library list, from which you can purchase some excellent wines they created to be aged for longer period of time. The tasting room is filled with beautiful artwork created by the winery's mother and daughter. All of their wines are made from grapes grown at this location (36 ac) and 8 ac in Oak Knoll. They are all dry and unfiltered to keep their maximum flavor. Most of their wine is sold through the winery, because they only make 2,000 cases/year. We especially loved their dark and inky Malbec, which they also use for blending. And although we don't usually favor Chardonnay, we enjoyed their citrusy and crisp version. Needless to say, we left with a case of a variety of whites and reds! Reservation required,...
Read moreI have tasted at this winery about 5 times. It is always a favorite during my visits to Napa. The staff are down to earth and very hospitable. They make sure you and your group are having fun. ALL the wines are elegant. Here you will have access to an extensive library of wines that age beautifully (at reasonable prices for the quality). This winery shows you a piece of what Napa Valley wine making is REALLY about: family farming that is passed down from one generation to the other and making small batch, special, boutique style wine. The grounds are well maintained with flowers while the vineyard itself slopes up in the distance, giving you a great view. The hosts take you out to the vines to educate you and answer all the questions you have. They are very kind. If you want an experience that is personal and away from the stuffy, crowded industrial wineries in Napa, I highly recommend booking a tasting at...
