Sleeping Giant Winery — Attraction in Napa

What a fantastic tasting experience at Sleeping Giant. Located right in the heart of the Carneros region, just as you enter Napa Valley off Cuttings Wharf Road. Their gracious, welcoming team made us feel right at home. The wines are truly extraordinary; beautifully balanced, opulent with soft finesse and just a hint of oak. Chris Dearden's expertise in cooperage is evident in his luscious wines. Tony, Amanda and Val took fabulous care of us from the moment we drove up the driveway we felt their warm hospitality. Wonderful family winery, the owners personally take you through the operation themselves. This was totally different than the other sales forward winery tastings. No pressure, great wines, lovely people. They were so kind they even gave us a special bottle from 2010 when we told them we were there for our 15th wedding anniversary. This wines were as good or better than any of the big name brands; their Pinot was my favorite of the 6 day trip and their Howell mountain cab replaced my favorite from Sequoia. Sleeping Giant is a great spot for wine tasting. It has a beautiful patio close to the vines or an elegant indoor space (if weather is not so favorable). It is a family owned winery, which is so much nicer than the big corporate ones so common now in the Valley. They have a good selection of whites and reds.
