Excellent trail for running and hiking. Plentiful, free parking. Poor reviews are based on inexperienced hikers expecting a waterfall in the summer or fall in southern CA. The big waterfall is off to the right (north) of the marked trail around 1.5 miles into the hike. It's easy to spot if it's running. There is also a small waterfall about 1/3 of a mile from the parking lot. Abundant wildflowers in the spring, especially after wet winters. You can also cross over the Kanan Dume Rd. tunnel west of the parking lot and travel the Backbone Trail east. This section of the trail is much less crowded. Awesome both ways. Can't go wrong here. The hike gently rolls up-and-down, crossing streams with beautiful panoramic views of the Santa Monica Mountains. The vegetation has been coming back strong since the fires, there are flowers on the hike that have not been seen for many years.
