We visited many of the larger wineries and this topped them all. Why? The experience. It’s not what you do, it’s how you do it. The team at Reynolds are consummate professionals and treat you like a king and queen. The cheese plate was mouthwatering and had a fantastic selection to complement the various wine samples. We toured the winery and saw the process from harvest to bottling. Who knew it was such a complex and sophisticated process.
George (Director of ops) spent an inordinate amount of time with us and answered all my burning wine making questions (some trade secrets kept to himself). VERY knowledgeable. If you suffer from sneezing with certain wines, they have a particular bottle that will minimize this.
Steve Reynolds (the owner) came out and spent time with us and shared his amazing stories. Of all the wineries, this was the most memorable and the caliber and quality is unmatched.
Unfortunately, the larger wineries are all about volume which decreases attention to detail, quality and service. Steve has chosen to stay the size he is to maintain a high level of exceptional wines. Do not leave Napa until you visit Reynolds family winery. I cannot wait to go back just to see them again.
Thank you to everybody at the Reynolds family winery for all of your hard work - the finished product is a result of your dedication and passion. Bless you all.
PS. Watch Decanted on Netflix to see a beautifully done documentary about the wine business (Reynolds...
Read moreThe Reynolds family winery is a lovely place, full harvest moon last night at their private harvest party. The wine stomping competition between the women and men was fun. Now for the disappointing news: Based on what I saw online when I signed up my husband and I for their party, I thought we were going to get a special dinner entree that you would see at a high end restaurant in San Francisco. Afterall, I spent nearly $200 for just the two of us. That doesn't bother me because it was our 35th wedding anniversary. What bothered me is what we were served: a table of typical finger foods to nibble on with your wine but I wanted to save my appetite for the main surprise. Nope, we were given bruschetta, some soggy greens with some salad dressing & slices of pizza from what looked like a food truck. Even a lady who attended last year showed me pictures of the lavish dinner they had last year.
I understand that they had power outages and were debating on cancelling this harvest party according to what we were told. They should've cancelled and re-scheduled! I rushed back from Texas (emergency trip for a sick family member) to go with my husband to this event because the tickets are non-refundable. Yet, what we looked forward to is not what we expected. They could have have compensated their guests with something (e.g., bottle of wine, coupon, etc.) to make up for their...
Read moreI have been to Reynolds Family Winery numerous times over the last 8+ years that we've belonged to their wine club. It is one of the best kept "secrets" in the Napa Valley. The winery is quaint and enjoys a scenic location next to their irrigation pond that is often frequented by an assortment of birds. Vineyards surround it.
The staff is always friendly, and takes their queues from owners Steve and Suzy who are always warm and engaging. Steve is a master wine maker -- truly one of the elite winemakers in the valley. I am a huge fan of his reds. In blind tastings against some of the truly big, elite wineries' wines in the valley, Reynolds always seem to score very high, if not at the top within my wine group. We blind taste a different varietal each month, and I've entered Steve's wines numerous times in our tastings.
I also can't tell you how many times I've taken a bottle of a Reynolds wine to a friend's home when invited to dinner, only to have several people at the table remark about its quality.
Since price does matter for most, the Reynolds wines are also very competitively priced when compared against some of the other quality red wines sold in the...
