I just decided to drive down to the coast being i only live 30 minutes from there. It is just magical to sit and watch the sun go down over the ocean. The inner peace I feel while sitting there watching the waves go in and out is definitely worth the 30 minute drive! There are pull offs everywhere along that stretch of coastal 1. Some are kinda like a small parking lot , some are smaller but there are so many pull offs in that area you are sure to find one with an amazing view, there are bathrooms at some of the bigger pull offs, and as you drive down coastal 1 threw the little towns there is a gas station or two with basic gas station food and refreshments. The pull off areas literally offer a front row seat( you don't even have to get out of your vehicle if you don't want too or if your like me and don't enjoy being cold) because you pull up and BAM front row seat to soak in the natural energy of the earth. ... if you r into that kind of thing. I highly recommend taking an afternoon to drive down, pick your spot and unwind, unplug( the cell service is not great ) and reconnect with yourself, its also a great place to think when you have a lot on your mind, as most of us do.... its definitely chilly as the sun goes down so if you plan on sitting outside bring warm clothes , a blanket, and anything else you might need. And take some time to enjoy the amazing natural beauty of this earth♥️🧘‍♀️‼️ also there are little trails so if you wanna sit on the beach you can, thats even better you just have to be careful some f the trails are steep, very steep🧗‍♀️! You may need hiking shoes to get down there . Its worth the hike to get down there definitely. And not all trails to the beach are steep it really depends on where you you choose to pull of. There are pull off areas that have a couple picnic tables. If you want to bring your dog you can, not all areas are dog friendly you will just have to find a pull off that allows dogs on the beach you'll know there are signs posted.

Salmon Creek State Beach is a beautiful spot for relaxation, offering stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and serene natural surroundings. The beach features soft sand, gentle waves, and often fewer crowds mixed with some surfers, compared to other coastal areas, making it an ideal place to unwind. Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks along the shore, gather seashells, or simply sit and listen to the sound of the waves. The nearby dunes and coastal vegetation provide a picturesque backdrop, perfect for photography or peaceful contemplation. Wildlife enthusiasts might spot various bird species or even seals lounging on the rocks. There are also opportunities for picnicking, beachcombing, and enjoying the sunset, which can be quite breathtaking. Overall, Salmon Creek Beach is a fantastic destination for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle and enjoy a day of relaxation in a beautiful, natural setting.

This is a very popular beach. You can access it from the north side of the creek from the parking lot adjacent to highway 1. This will require a short, but somewhat steep, climb down to the beach. There is no fee to park here. But parking is limited. There is a restroom at the parking lot. If you have mobility concerns, you may want to consider access via Bodega Dunes and pay the day-use fee. There are restrooms and a picnic area at the parking lot. The northern end is closer to the mouth of Salmon Creek and the surf break is relatively gentle there. This is a great place for families with kids. The farther south you go, generally the surf is rougher and more impacted by the tides. If you see areas roped off near the sand dunes, please stay out of those areas. The Western Snowy Plover breeds and nests in the area from around March-September.
