The men who take care of the park probably have a thankless job in a lot of ways. So I have a great deal of compassion for them. At the same time I have only had negative encounters with them whenever I go there. Which is strange since I am generally just minding my own business and not doing anything out of the ordinary. It's almost as if they see a young female alone and see me as the perfect person to take their frustrations out on.
I'd like to say there has been an exception to this but so far it has not been the case. One care taker in particular borders on creepy with the level of hostility he seems to have towards me or possibly park goers.
Beyond that it's a nice piece of land and always has been. I have been going there since I was a little girl. Born and raised in Santa Barbara I am quite familiar with all of the parks in Santa Barbara County. I always dress running into the guys at Tucker's Grove.
I'm not sure what other parks they manage however. I'm also not sure who to contact about their behavior. I suppose this...
Read moreI have been coming to Tucker's Grove since I was a little kid. This park has always been my neighborhood park. I have been to weddings, birthdays, and gatherings here for years. The park is big. There are all kinds of great serene spaces. There are horseshoe pits and a playground area. Loads of picnic tables and areas. You can rent spaces or just set up. If you're looking for a place to meditate, picnic, read a book, have a day hike or just gather with friends, check out Tucker's Grove. It is located where Turnpike meets Cathedral Oaks (4800...

This is also the trailhead for a nice hike. It takes about an hour round trip if you're hiking at a quick pace. The trail crosses a couple of streams which when there's water you have to rock hop across. Part of the trail is under a canopy of trees. There is a variety of flowering plants.
This is also a trail that is popular for cyclists. Not all the cyclists use a bell so you need to be on the alert for oncoming bikes.
So when you're looking to get out and only have a limited amount of time to get some exercise and enjoy the outdoors Tuckers Grove is a great...
