Decided to visit a winery with my boyfriend. Our first time in San Diego & a winery. Chose this location since I read so many good things about it plus it was family owned. The only nice thing about this place was the view. Literally the only good thing. My boyfriend & I were bashed from the waiter/host (whatever he was) & started talking trash about where we come from, Chicago Illinois. A full on 3 mins talking trash about Chicago. Then we decided to try a cheese plater as it was stated on the menu along with wine tasting. When I got up to the counter to place my order, the host showed me where I can grab the cheese platter from along with utensils & glasses… so I had to serve myself… The cheese platter as the call it, it was a plate with a cheese ball, with crackers which were still in their wrapper, that were probably bought from aldis, & salami which also probably bought from aldis. Which also was still in its plastic container. The guy never checked in with us. While he was occupied with other tables. At the end a lady came over & asked if I needed anything & just decided to close the tap, pay & leave. As we were leaving, nobody acknowledged us. What an experience to for a first time winery… They have better wines, service & cheese platters at your local Whole...
Read moreI went to Turtle Rock with friends yesterday afternoon. We were immediately greeted at our table. We had 2 dogs with us and our lovely female server bought over a water bowl for our dogs. She took our order after a few minutes. We ordered a bottle of white wine and I ordered a glass of their Bella red blend wine, which we were all pleased with. We bought our own food and had no problem doing so. There were a lot of other people who arrived the same time we did, and we leisurely waited maybe 10 minutes to have our order delivered to our table, while we were enjoying the beautiful views. We were provided service by 2 different women, and both of them were extremely kind. One of them was the owner. A lot of the wineries up there are only open Saturday and Sunday, and we were fortunate to find Turtle Rock who was open on a Friday which was the Friday after...
Read moreOne of the most beautiful entrances into a winery that I've ever seen. This winery has a lot of character, inside and out. The name reflects the scenery around you. The pourers were very friendly and helpful during my group's tasting. This was our first stop on my birthday wine tasting weekend and it did not disappoint! I just wish we could have stayed longer- there was a large outdoor patio with tables, umbrellas and panoramic views of the surrounding foothills. Bring a packed picnic lunch to extend your stay, you won't regret it. This is one of a few wineries in Ramona that I recommend to friends and family. They have seasonal slushies and sangria (peach jalapeno flavor was amazing). I will definitely be back for more of...
