Point of interest here is really the town's eclectic charm. Apparently, Bombay Beach has become an artist haven. The town will probably have an apocalyptic appeal to those that seek adventure. I came here to photograph the sunset. Beware, the Salton Sea is way past is heyday. The sea is also considered one of the worst environmental disasters in recent memory. The water is extremely polluted and it gives off an awful smell. It's probably not a good idea to take a dip in it. Set aside the smell and pollution, Salton Sea is beautiful. On a calm day it looks like a mirror. I used it's reflection to captures scenic photos of the sunset.

My 2nd visit to Bombay Beach at Salton Sea. You guys gotta see this place. The last time I visited was like, two years ago, and I'm happy to be back. It's become an art exhibit... and why not? It's certainly the perfect spot whether you're stopping by on your way to or from "Slab City." I think the artist is the guy in the photo doing maintenance on the sign that reads, "THE ONLY OTHER THING IS NOTHING." And if you happen to see this post, please know how thankful everyone is that you're sharing your work! I'll be back next month. 😋🤗

We was weekenders when I was a kid. My mom died two lots away from my uncle's bar that isn't there anymore... Going and seeing the freak peoples trash art all over Bombay was insulting... The people don't own the land there and like the slabs live rent free... But to post park cars at top this is private property, can kiss my ASS... It stinks, it's a joke, I would like to know who is allowing this to happen .. clean up Salten Sea and Bombay Beach... All of it ..

'24/8 1st time visit: -- NOTE: While this location appears on Google Maps to be in the water, it is NOT due to how much the water has receeded over the years. -- If coming from the north, it is NOT visible due to the high, earthen levy. But, there are several, unsaved, unmarked vehicle access points from the main, paved road. -- NO formal entrance, fee. -- This an eclectic collection of scrap-art over a half mile of preceded beach area that's VERY drivable in a normal sedan (at least in August)--like a drive thru...
