The Lacamas Heritage Trail is a true 5-star gem in Camas, Washington. This nearly 7-mile round trip trail offers stunning views of Lacamas Lake and is perfect for hikers, walkers, and cyclists of all skill levels. The well-maintained gravel path is family-friendly, accommodating strollers and dogs, with gentle inclines and smooth terrain. Wildlife enthusiasts will love the variety of bird species and occasional deer sightings. The lush forest and vibrant wildflowers create a serene, magical atmosphere. The trail features well-placed benches, scenic viewpoints, ample parking, clean restrooms, and clear signage, enhancing the overall experience. Historical interpretive signs add an educational element, enriching the journey with fascinating insights into the area's past. The Lacamas Heritage Trail combines natural beauty, friendly amenities, and diverse wildlife, making it a must-visit for outdoor enthusiasts and anyone seeking a peaceful nature retreat. Highly recommended!

A very lovely place to go for a trail run, walk, bike, ride, birdwatching, or walking the dog. The trail runs along Lacamus Creek, and the corresponding fault. Most people are blissfully unaware of the faultlines existence, but it’s capable of generating a magnitude six or greater earthquake. If I had to guess it was formed as a result of the accretion of an exotic terrane which explains the mix of igneous rocks in the form of columnar basalt and the existence of limestone and calcite that can be found in the lake or in the creek. There’s also areas of evidence of past glacial retreat which has left a paradise for rock hounds to find beautiful agates, Jasper, and Jade. Also a great place to have a nosebleed while running😜

Beautiful trail for walking and jogging. It’s an easy track without much elevation. 3.5 miles from one parking lot to another. It’s well maintained and runs along the river giving great views. The trail is shaded. At the parking lot which is by the way free there are warnings about car break ins so don’t not leave anything inside the car on display. There are restrooms at the parking lot.

Easy trail. It's well maintained with nil elevation gain. It might be a good pick for outdoor wheelchair hikes or first time hikes with little ones and stroller friendly.

The trail is set with just a bit of gravel so I'd imagine it doesn't get overwhelmingly sloppy during wetter months, though I haven't tried the trail yet at those times.

Lots of flora along the trail of different varieties. Wild berries feed the wildlife. There's lots of birds. The water view is also nice. You see the water gathering into the lake as you further along. Raised bridges make crossing over the waterways comfortable and gives a top down view of the marshes. We even saw three deer on the trail during late afternoon. It was a nice decompression. But there were mosquitoes and yellow jackets along as well, so depending on the time of year and day consider bug repellent for the blood suckers if you are sensitive. The yellow jackets weren't too aggressive but there were more than a few around because of the wild blackberries.

All in all it was a great experience and our family will definitely be circling back to do this trail again soon. The sign says 3.5...

The hike at Lacamas Heritage Trailhead is truly a gem! It’s an easy, family-friendly trail with free parking and restroom facilities available, making it incredibly convenient. As you start, you’re greeted by a charming little river on the left, which eventually opens up to a beautiful lake. The views are stunning, with Mount Hood perfectly visible in the distance, adding to the trail’s serene beauty.

The flat, straightforward path makes it perfect for all ages, and I even noticed bicycles on the trail. It’s a great spot to bring kids, especially with a playground and picnic area nearby. For those who love outdoor photography, this trail is an excellent location for family or engagement photo sessions, offering gorgeous backdrops at every turn.

Whether you’re looking for a peaceful stroll, a scenic spot for pictures, or just a great place to enjoy nature, this hike won’t disappoint! Highly...
