Terrible customer service and complete rip off. My soon to be father-in-law and I have a shared interest in firearms so I thought as a way to bond we should go out shooting. Problem is the weather has been bad so I looked around and found this indoor range. I had been to a few similar ranges when I was stationed in California and it was always fun to rent guns you've never tried before. So here are the ways this fun outing turned bad. Extremely limited selection of rentals. They charge per person per rental, you both want to shoot their Ill-maintained weapons you pay 2 rental fees. Large markup on "range ammo" that you are required to shoot through the rental. They charge per person for the lane. We asked for two lanes but they said they might get busy so we could only get one lane, however only when checking out do they tell us we have to pay per person per hour rather than paying for one lane plus it isn't pro rated so since we stayed over the hour mark we had to pay for a full additional hour. There was a couple next to us and the girl wasn't comfortable shooting so rather than ensuring the safety of the other shooters and just showing her they charged them $25 to show her how to shoot. To be fair though if you have never shot a gun before and just looking for the experience and a safe place to do it in and have some extra money to waste this place is definitely...
Read moreWhile taking a trip to Sedona this past week, my Mother, sister and I decided to go to the shooting range for a bit. Out of the three of us, my sister has the most experience with multiple guns, rifles, shotguns...etc so she was pretty much doing her own thing. My mother only went to a range a time or so before and this was my first time shooting a hand gun at a range. Though it was somewhat intimidating- not knowing who’s standing next to you with a deadly weapon but also not being trained to have one just yet either. My nerves quickly settled due to the fact that our instructor not only gave us clear step by step safety instructions he stayed with us the entire hour or so. He corrected form and gave us space to get a feel for the guns as well. He just about loaded every clip for my Mother and I after showing us how and encouraging us to try. Before ever stepping into the range he discussed gun options some benefits and disadvantages with my Mother who is looking to purchase for her home now that she is licensed. He did not need to give her that time as he knew that wasn’t a sale he was making. I appreciate the level of comfort and skill building information we received. I also enjoyed the shooting part! Turns out my sister is left eye dominant and a “switch hitter”. So she even learned something new about her skills. I’d be there weekly if I didn’t live thousands...
Read moreHappened to stop at Cooper Star Indoor Range while I was in the Phoenix area. Having never been here before I was not only curious about what they had to shoot but the facility as well. When I arrived the range was fairly quiet, which was a good thing. The staff were friendly and professional which not only makes the experience better but also but is a reassuring sign of safety. I went through the normal procedures of signing my waver and familiarising myself with what was avail to shoot. While the selection was not the biggest I have seen it was extensive enough to satisfy anyone looking to try various weapons or anyone just looking for the “experience” of range shooting. The facility itself was excellent. The pistol range is fully equipped with good size booths and the target system was fully automated which is also a big plus. No silly cable systems as can be the case elsewhere. The rifle range was the same and has a max distance of about 250’ which is very rare for an indoor range. They also had any additional equipment you may require readily avail for use. Overall I highly rate the facility and staff so if your looking for a bit of fun or are a serious shooter who wants time in a great...
