First-time visitor. I spent 8 hours here today during the fall festival with a group of family/friends and a handful of children, so a review is a must. I must start by saying some of you need to get your expectations in line: this is NOT a theme park. It's a FARM, a beautiful farm at that, consisting of family friendly activies, farm animals, and a handful of small rides for the tots. Nothing more, nothing less. It's a great place to spend the day. I was probably here on the busiest weekend of the year- fall festival. It was busy. That being said, we arrived at 2 p.m., ate an early dinner without crazy lines, the food was passable, and there wasn't an issue with product availability. It does get busy the later it gets because it does have "haunted" attractions. I need to say this: I've lived in East texas all my life, and we all complain about there being nothing to do. Yesterland Farms fills a much needed nitch. Is it a perfect place, no. But find me a perfect place!!! I'm thankful our community has this place. As a first-time visitor, I will be back. As an adult, did I have a "knock my socks off" experience? No, but the children absolutely love this place. As a middle-aged adult, it's not a place I would come looking for kicks. Rather, it's a place for kids to run around and be kids, and it's a great thing for our community. I have two issues that keep me from giving them 5 stars, and it's a real easy fix: the facilities. I feel bad for any female who had to use the john. Us men can deal with it. But there is absolutely no reason why portable trailers with sanitary stalls can't be purchased/rented for the women. There also needs to be baby changing stations. Dirty diapers all over the portable bathrooms, sitting on the edges of the toilet or piled up on the floor. This is grossly unacceptable and a health hazard. I understand that million dollar bathrooms are not feasible- but you have to have a clean environment. What's wrong with a tent full of baby changing stations? What's wrong with portable trailers for the women? What if someone is handicapped? During the early afternoon, the bathrooms had soap and papertowels- all gone by the evening. Put up hand sanitizer stations! Get your sh*t together - literally!!! The second issue isn't as serious, but it's the food. Just outsource it. It's not adequate in the number of stations, selections, and quality. The lines late in the day are ridiculous. Do some math, find a happy medium, and rent/lease out to food vendors. If Canton Trade days can make it work, so can y'all. Cut out all that food cost, labor, headache, and outsource it all. Give us texas fair style corn dogs stands, taco stands, BBQ, candy apples, fried oroes, etc. Make the vendors fight for our business. Competition is a good thing: it will increase service, quality, pricing, and availability. I'm fat- I'd bring the kids more often just to eat all that if you had it! Make it a foodie meca and you'd never have a problem with repeat business. Also, in regards to food: I didn't know you could bring in coolers and your own food and drinks! As is, anyone complaining about food should just do that and have a picnic. Next time, I'll do that and bring in jungle juice and cold cuts for the kids. But I'd rather the owners bring in vendors and lock the coolers out because the fair/carnival/flea market food gives the adults pleasure. I mean, come on.. who leaves Trade Days hungry??? Also, please increase seating for adults and seniors while kids run around and wait in line. We simply don't have their energy. My feet, back, and legs will be sore for days. Overall, it's a great attractive place, and the kids will have a blast. There's lots to see and do - and that's really what...
Read moreI took my twins for the first time today because we’ve passed it about a dozen times and always thought it looked so fun.
I would like to start off by saying that what they’ve done with their farm is beautiful and I love that there is a place for families to bring their small kids to have a day of play and excitement.
Here is where my problems lie. We bought the most expensive ticket because I thought the “tokens” would be a great addition because my kids to do extra things that they could enjoy and I was getting a deal.
Dont get the tokens. They value them at $5/ token. They are able to be used in the very back for some shooting games, pony rides (I think) and the mining. My kids didn’t care for anything but the mining. So we go to the mining and think we can get the equivalent of the real bag for tokens. That’s not the case. You get a tiny bucket of sand (that they make) to sift through. To use the tokens up (we had 15). My kids made a total of 8 buckets and they got less than 10 rocks that they thought were gems. And it was able to be sifted so quickly it lasted maybe 5 mins. Side note: do we really need 5 mins of directions to sift through dirt? That was way over the top and completely unnecessary.
The next is the price of everything. It was absolutely outrageous. My kids wanted souvenir cups (of course) and they were $12 dollars. That was fine. I knew what I was getting myself into. But refills were another $5, even if it’s water. I brought my Stanley hoping they had refill areas. They do not. I asked if they could refill my Stanley with water and they said no but I could buy water. 🙄 that’s the entire point of a Stanley. So I purchased 2 bottles of water (each costing $3.50! Yes! $3.50 for a 20 oz bottle of water) I gritted my teeth and paid it. Then I asked if I could have a cup of ice so I could put ice in my Stanley. They then said I would have to pay for that also. That really bothered me but I said ok. $1.59 for that. I made a point by giving them their cup back. We went to the Bolders in Grand Prairie the day before and they actually asked me if I wanted them to fill my water bottle. Now that was awesome!
When I pay $54 for a ticket (for my kids also) I don’t expect to be price gouged for water and ice. It’s ridiculous. We gave our remaining 6 tokens to random kids we came upon. Hope they got better use of them.
The rides were fun, a little young, but my kids are 9 so they were entertained to an extent. The hayride was a 👎👎. My kids didn’t like that we walked all the way back to be pulled to a flower pasture (it was pretty) and be dropped off to purchase flowers. A sign should be clearly seen before that long haul so we would know. Needless to say, we didn’t unload and go to pick flowers.
The corn maze was a big circle. Not hard to find your way and again, we didn’t need directions on what to do. We’ve all done corn mazes. My thought on the corn maze, allow tokens to be used to get a bag to pick corn. That’s what my kids wanted to do...
Read moreedit after their reply to my review I love how they say they have it under control, but the next day after my visit there are already 3 reviews about how everyone is out of stock, almost all rides are broken, and even the lemonade is out at 4PM. You guys knew how packed it was yesterday, why weren't you prepared? At this point, you are aware and stealing people's money AND time knowing you have broken rides and no food or drinks. Stop pretending like you're actually fixing the problem when it has been ongoing for years, clearly. I hope this place shuts down.
One word to describe this place is: careless. I think it has the potential to be a great experience; however, mine & my family’s experience was not. After reading other reviews from the past 3 years with the same complaints and absolutely no change, it is safe to say the owners are lazy and do not care about anything other than their profit.
First, there is hardly any signage or lights. The only lights are from the rides or the occasional concession stand. The map doesn’t seem updated and we felt as if it was hard to navigate this large attraction.
The food was not good at all, and the lines were horrible. We had a piece of pizza labeled “stone-cooked” (we weren’t expecting much) but for a $7 piece of DiGiorno, waiting 20 minutes, and rude service… we were even more disappointed.
By 8:00 most places were sold out, and I had to go to 4 different stands just for water. Lemonade was a 10 minute wait, fryer at the burger shack was broken, funnel cake stand out of funnel cake, broken soda machines, and the list goes on. There was not enough to accommodate the large load they let into the park, which seems to be a reoccurring theme. Not enough bathrooms, food, water, drinks... and they know they were going to be packed as they have for the past 3 years with the same exact problems.
The only animals were the ponies for the pony rides. Can purchase pumpkins, but once again, not clear where to make the purchase. Token system is not elaborated on, and seems to be a waste of money. Even with the token, you get the bare minimum. Gem mining/sifting (cost 1 token AKA $5) and you get a dixie-cup portion of sand to sift through or upgrade to prepackaged bags of sand for $15+. From our $5 cup of sand, we found 3 quarter sized gems. Not worth it at all.
After this visit, it is clear that the owners are not reinvesting our $35 tickets back into the park. It is too expensive for what you’re getting. They have the same issues year after year and say "they will take your experience into consideration", but actions speak louder than words. People are comparing it to Six Flags or Cedar Point, not because of the attractions, but because of the prices. Save your money, do something else. It really wasn’t worth the time, or money (Easily spent $400 total with a...
