Driving through the area when a snowstorm forced us to call it a night, and how lucky we were! If we hadn't stopped for a hotel, we wouldn't have stumbled upon this charming and challenging escape opportunity (room number 145)! There are so many things to love about this business starting with their late hours, ease of walk-in booking, welcoming and vibrant waiting room, myriad rooms with new and clever themes, and the genuine good nature of our gamemaster, Jackson. Oh, and I don't think we've seen a room for $25 per person since before COVID. We only had time for one room, so we asked for fun and a challenge and were well rewarded with Christmas Nightmare, a play on the movie "Nightmare Before Christmas." The set-up did a terrific job of having the Halloween vs Christmas divide, and we loved the decor. There were tons of items in the room, but the sticker labels were very clear about what was or was not in play. This room has so many puzzles that generally had to be followed linearly and were often simple, one-step solutions, but the variety and number of puzzles on top of finding the necessary items kept everyone in our group busy. With five of us, we found ourselves bumping into one another on occasion, so I don't think I'd try to for more than six active players. Two could do it, but it would be tough, for sure. The hint system was an intercom which worked fine, and Jackson was definitely aware of what we were doing and where we needed to look, next. This is a huge positive in our experiences! He got more specific than we would've liked on one puzzle, telling us how to solve rather than hinting at it, but it was one of over a dozen puzzles, so we didn't mind in the long run. Truly, the only negative thing about stopping here to escape is the feeling of regret that we can't stick around to do any other rooms. Time to work on our excuses to come back through Amarillo.

My family and I came here to try our hand at the Missing persons escape! For my baby sisters birthday. It was absolutely wicked the game master Charlotte allowed us to to the scavenger hunt and when we were really stuck let us get a hint! The scarer Jarrett🤣🤣 well he scared the life outta us!!!! It was refreshing to have live actors, and we got a kick out of the interactions! At the end of the game when I was positive we wouldn’t escape 🤣! I went to the intercom “hey Charlotte… it’s Arielle!” “Hey Arielle what’s up?” “Yea so none of us are making it out!! COME SAVE ME!” “On my way girl!” 🤣🤣🤣 it was so funny to see the look on my families face when the door cracked and we escaped down the hall! BEST ESCAPE ROOM EVER! my sister had an amazing birthday big Thankyou to Jarett and Charlotte!

We'd originally check out another spot to do an escape room. So happy that didn't work out! Amarillo escape & mystery was amazing to us! I'd actually booked a wrong date, showed up, and was so worried I'd let my entire group down with our plans. But Charlotte reassured me she would still be able to work it out for us and get us in! I was so excited. David and Jarett were so awesome too, they had a genuine excitement as well as humor, that was infectious💗. They made pur group feel like friends rather than just customers. We loved the experience (we were all first timers for an escape room). We will definitely be back, and refer anyone we can to Amarillo Escape & Mystery. Thank you all for welcoming, accommodating, and giving us and amazing experience!

This was the worst escape room business ive ever experienced. However bad that sounds, it’s actually worse: the video intro wouldn’t load/play, so the owner bumbled through what was in the screen; the countdown clock wouldn’t start so she interrupted our play every few minutes with a “time remaining” announcement; the blacklight flashlight didn’t work so she interrupted with another, which also didn’t work; the story (“Stamped”) was incomprehensible and instead was just loaded with simple locks, etc., etc. To top it off, she apologized incessantly but never offered a refund or even a discount. Then as we tried to flee the scene, she persisted in trying to promote her other business, 3-D printing, saying we should buy some of her “toys.” The building was old, the game was poorly designed, the service was borderline obnoxious. Hate feeling rude about this but trying to warn other paying customers to save...
