We went for the Halloween Walk!! Very pleased! And for only being $2 per person, it was a lot better than I was expecting. I can't believe I never knew about this until last Halloween. The displays are great! Family friendly. We went right around 5PM and it was just starting to get busy. The lines moved very quickly! We decided we would stay until dark so we could walk to trail to enjoy the full effects! If you have children who scare easily, I recommend going between 5PM - 7PM. There's no hidden surprises. Also no blood or guts. If your kids don't get scared and you go through some of the areas and there's hidden surprises, definitely go after 7pm. The lights are a lot of fun! My favorite part is the hand carved pumpkins, lit up. Gives the illusion they're just floating! There's also tractor rides and train rides. Live entertainment and even games for a couple extra dollars. If you're hungry, there's a snack booth run by the Metroparks as well as fair...
Read moreI wanted to give this a 4 or 5 star, but the trail markings are just inexcusable. There are trails that aren’t clearly marked and signs facing in the wrong directions. Using the maps provided by Metroparks still won’t help you. I have never had this problem at any other Lorain Metropark, and considering this one is supposed to be their pride and joy largest park you think they’d put more effort into proper signage. I ended up over a mile out of my way with my toddler because there is this sign on the Deer Run Trail that says that the duck pond is 0.5 miles away. It’s not, it isn’t even in the direction the sign is pointing. It’s in the opposite direction, at least according to the horrible map. I couldn’t for the life of me tell if I was on the Short Loop or Discovery Trail. Needs a lot of work. I will say that the indoor areas for the kids is very nice and we will likely be back for that, but...
Read moreThere are two different things I want to cover the first and the most popular would have to be the Halloween trick-or-treat season and the Christmas light season (will post pics later) Both are a huge draw and because they are so big you need to go online and make a reservation for a certain day. They only have so much parking.
Second— the trails. Aside from asphalt or cement trails nearer to main buildings, these are the best trails made of white ground gravel so easy to transfer with a stroller or a wheelchair. Some areas may be thicker less than others. Almost all of their trails are about 5 feet wide. The trails are well marked and they have a lot of of them. I was only able to hike too, but there are several that range from half a mile to five or 6 miles maybe more.
Halloween is self-explanatory with the first few pictures & videos. Will post Christmas at...
