The store is nice and has beautiful gifts if you’re looking for some. When we first arrived we were a little bit shocked by how the place looked compared to the impressions we had from the reviews. We’ve been to other Alpaca’s farms in San Juan’s and a wallaby farm in the area and I think the tour might be rearranged a bit differently as it doesn’t seem to cater to the needs of people with disabilities and younger children. The tour starts in the barn where you stand and wave away the flies and listen to the farm history and in 20 minutes start touching the wool products. It felt a little bit like a sales pitch. We were tired, hot and did not like the flies and honestly did not stay till the end as it was a bit too much for our little one so I cannot say for the rest of the experience. Perhaps, it would have been great if there were some places to to sit like at wallaby farm and the experience was starting with petting and feeding or there were some things for the younger children to touch or activities to occupy with. It would have been great if the farm looked a little bit more appealing though I get it might be hard to keep the farm running and be it a...
Read moreTheir Christmas event (Fleece Navidad) is always a hit!! Charlie is a sweetheart and makes for beautiful Christmas photos. Bring a cash donation or good for the food bank to pose with him and their Christmas backdrop (new every year)
The animals are so sweet and you can buy a bag of food for just a few dollars ($3 today). It's enough for about 20 minutes of feeding fun. The alpacas snuffle it out of your palm and make for great photos.
The gift shop has a variety of alpaca fleece products like hats, mitts, scarves, sweaters, and fleece plushies. They also have a wide array of yarn and a selection of hand-knit hats from their very own herd and another local farm. You can even get a selfie with the animal your product is from (their yarn is all labled with the specific alpaca the fleece is from).
This year they added a mother's day event and I was just told today that it'll be even better in 2023!
Their guard dogs are also the sweetest animals ever and will gladly take whatever affection you're willing to...
Read moreTour guide Shari and family were hospitable! We arrived 30 minutes prior to our tour and they allowed us to have a quick visit with their alpacas and snap photos. Their alpacas are so gentle and a bit timid so don't make sudden motions or chase them. They fenced off an area between their shop and home to a new mother and its' one week old baby and a few other young ones. They have dogs with their alpacas day and night due to recent cougar activities. Their dogs are friendly and so relaxed. Shari gave each visitor a cup of food to feed their male alpacas. It was a fun and awesome experience to finally see an alpaca up front and personal after watching documentaries. We didn't get to visit the females and their young. The males and females are separated to control population. We tried to pet the male alpacas but once you get too close they pop away; be...
