I didn't know what to expect until I drive by and got this happy feeling from the beautiful natural setting of trees, bushes... After getting ice cream and lunch, I came here to hike with my dogs. I was happy to find the lime kiln since I didn't know what it was when I saw the pics on Google. It was an educational experience. I read most of the historical signs. The log cabin is located to the right of the lime kiln. One of my pups found the creek where she cooled her little paws. We ended up walking the birders path where I saw and heard lots of birds and several bunnies. It's my favorite part of the trail so far but I didn't explore the other trails for comparison since it's hot out and my girls were already tired from walking around Hampton. If I'm in the area, I would definitely come back and hike the other trails and we explore the rest of the park.

This nature center and park are my favorite places to visit. I hike here at least 3 times a week and stop in to chat with Ranger Kirk and Laura! They're amazing people who take really great care of the park and nature center! I recommend visiting anyone who wants a safe, clean, well maintained place to enjoy nature. It's so peaceful and I love it. There are a couple of turkeys, plenty of chickens, and a couple of ducks in outdoor pens. Right now, the barn that was being used for field trips is being renovated. Ranger Kirk and his staff have put up a mid-size tent to accommodate the students in the meantime.

Great experience for this first time Hiker!!! They have a number of trails, some more intense than others. Our guide took us on a combination of trails totaling approximately 4 miles. It was beautiful. Some climbs are strenuous but it is worth it. We saw deer and many plants and different types of mushrooms (we went after a week of rain). Awesome hike! Can't wait to go again.
