This place is so beautiful this is so much I could say about it I've been going here since I was a young child my father took me here we used to go camping near here the place was always beautiful if you want to visit Rincon pouring please keep it the way it is not leave any trash or anyting it is a very special place it's tucked in and kind of Hidden Away you have to go to off at Muscle Shoals off of Highway 101 and go left out of the parking lot use the left parking lot then make your way down to pick up the trail to Rincon and you'll find a most beautiful it's very Rocky so you want to be careful it's not a Sandy type of beach but it has some really good intermediate to beginner surfing are the people that you'll see there are always friendly and respectful and please be respectful of the locals there are homes right there so we don't want to disturb people that live there okay once again very special...
Read moreThere is Rincon Point on the left and Bates Beach to the right; in the middle are private residences. Rincon Point is a favorite for surfing, and Bates Beach is my favorite for a day at the beach, swimming, and spectacular sunsets. The parking, bathrooms, large covered BBQ and picnic area are atop the bluff; the beach is probably 120 feet below and accessed by both a wide sloping path and a staircase. Although there is natural occurring tar seepage, that can sully the soles of the feet, the water is pristine and the cleanest around. The beach is shared with our four legged brethren both small and large, dogs and horses. Up until around Y2K it was clothing optional, the majority of sun bathers comprising of families, until the bushwhackers up top became a confounded nuisance and the privilege ended. Damn shame....
Read moreBeautiful beach! We spent about two hours walking during low tide. Lots of cool critters in the tide pools. We sat for a while watching the surfers try to catch a decent wave on the uncooperative Pacific. The wind can be chilly, so dress in layers, just in case. There are two ways down to the beach from the parking lot. Stairs on the south side (or is it the east) and a wide paved path on the other. It makes bringing all your beach accessories down easy. If you don't want to go down to the beach there is plenty of seating and picnic tables on the cliff for watching the surf and sunsets. We saw two paragliders above us, just hanging there above the cliff, playing with the updrafts coming off the ocean....
