Well I'll be dadgum! Just got back from a family road trip down to Carrabelle, Florida, and let me tell you folks, I've seen some things in my day, but nothing quite like what they call the "World's Smallest Police Station." Now, I've been to a lot of tourist traps with the wife and kids over the years - biggest ball of yarn, largest thermometer, you name it - but this little gem really takes the cake!

Picture this: it's literally a phone booth. Not kidding you one bit! This thing is smaller than my tool shed, and trust me, my tool shed ain't winning any size contests. The whole "police station" is maybe 8 square feet, tops. I've seen port-a-potties with more square footage! But hey, that's what makes America great - we'll turn anything into a tourist attraction and slap a sign on it.

The history's pretty neat though. Built back in 1963 when the town needed a police station but didn't have the budget for something fancy. So some genius said, "Hey, let's just use a phone booth!" Classic American ingenuity right there, folks. Makes you proud to be an American when you see that kind of can-do spirit.

Now, don't expect to spend your whole afternoon here. Took me about thirty seconds to see everything there was to see, snap a few photos for the Facebook, and move on. The kids thought it was "totally random" (whatever that means), but they still posed for pictures. Even got the wife to smile for once on vacation!

Is it worth the drive? Well, if you're already cruising through the Florida Panhandle hitting up all the roadside attractions like any self-respecting American family should, then absolutely! It's free, there's parking right there, and you can say you've been to the world's smallest police station. Plus, Carrabelle's got some decent seafood joints nearby, so make a day of it.

Bottom line: it's quirky, it's American, and it's the kind of wonderfully ridiculous thing that makes this country special. Four out of five tailgate coolers! Would've been five, but they really need a gift shop.

idk what's the history on this place.. "The World’s Smallest Police Station” came into being on March 10, 1963.  The city had been having problems with tourists making unauthorized long distance phone calls on its police phone.  The phone was located in a call box that was bolted to a building at the corner of U.S. 98 and Tallahassee Street.  Johnnie Mirabella, St. Joe Telephone’s lone Carrabelle employee at the time, first tried moving the call box to another building, but the illegal calls continued." Cute little coastal...

Крошечный офис заслужил изрядную известность за свою странность, появившись в нескольких телевизионных шоу, включая «Ripley's Believe It or Not!»

Easy stop if you're driving by. Just turn passed the booth and there is plenty of parking. Quite interesting and free to see 24/7. The original booth is in the Carabelle History Museum nearby (worth the visit too and also free entry). Police is not standing there, it's just a tourist attraction. There is no phone inside the booth. Visited November 2022.

Planned stop on our three week RV trip around FL. We were pulling a travel trailer but found adequate parking about a block from the Station. Highly recommend stopping at the Visitor's Center directly across the street from the Station. There is a nearby museum, some interesting shops and a few cafes. Take the time for the stop.
